You choose a point within range and cause a pulsing mental blast of psychic energy to explode there. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make an Intelligence Saving Throw, then take 8d6 psychic damage.

  • Major Success. The spell's damage is halved.
  • Success. The spell's damaged is halved, but the creature subtracts your spellcasting Modifier from their next attack roll or Ability Check.
  • Failure. The creature's thoughts are muddled until the end of its next turn. During that time, it subtracts your spellcasting Modifier from all its attack rolls and ability checks, as well as its Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration.
  • Major Failure. As failure, but the creature's thoughts are muddled for 1 minute. The target can make an Intelligence Saving Throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
A creature with an Intelligence score of 2 or lower can't be affected by this spell.
 
At higher levels: When you cast this spell at 7th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each level above 6th.
