Resilient and fiercely independent, Orcs are a people of enduring strength and adaptability. Their reputation often precedes them, but those who truly know Orcs understand them as a proud and passionate people with a deep respect for tradition.
Physical Characteristics
Orcs are humanoids with generally muscular physiques. On average, female orcs are around 5'11" to 6'6" tall while male orcs tend to reach just over 7 feet in height.
Orcs tend to have intimidating faces, with large heavy jaws filled with sharp tusk-like teeth, greenish skin, and pointed ears.
The naturally occurring eye colors of orcs include shades of brown, blue, yellow, orange, green, grey, and violet. The color of an orcs eyes may change to red when they become enraged.
Homelands
Orcs are skilled at surviving in even the most inhospitable lands, thriving where others might struggle. Having been pushed to the most unlivable regions of
Arandal through centuries of war, Orcs primarily reside in the
Scorian Mountains and the island nation of
Lorzumar.
Orcs often live in tightly-knit clans, each with its own unique customs, rites of passage, and symbols of identity. Clan loyalty is paramount, and disputes between Orcs are usually resolved through direct and honorable means.
Names
Humans have no typical naming conventions, and names vary greatly. Many parents give names that are linked to their region's culture, or draw inspiration from the naming traditions of their ancestors. Some humans simply give their children names that sound appealing, choosing words from other languages such as Dwarvish or Elvish.
Playing an Orc
As an orc, you have the following traits:
Size. Your size is
Medium.
Speed. You have a base walking speed of 30 feet.
Darkvision. Thanks to your orc blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Menacing. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.
Relentless Endurance. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Savage Attacks. When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon's damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
