Archivist
Wizardly Quill
Starting at 3rd level, you use your arcane abilities to improving your archiving capabilities. As a bonus action, you can magically create a Tiny quill in your free hand. The magic quill has the following properties:- The quill doesn't require ink. When you write with it, it produces ink in a color of your choice on the writing surface.
- The quill can be used to transcribe spells into your spellbook without requiring fine inks.
- You can erase anything you write with the quill if you wave the feather over the text as a bonus action, provided the text is within 5 feet of you.
Arcane Archive
Also, at 3rd level. You enchant your spellbook, transforming it into an arcane archive. It becomes a magical item, growing substantially in size and thickness, though it's weight remains the same and it is just as easy for you to handle. While you are holding the archive, it grants you the following benefits:- Your arcane archive can function as both your spellbook and as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
- Anything you have heard or seen within the past month is accurately described within the last 100 pages of the archive, allowing you near perfect recall of recent events.
- The archive serves as a compendium of knowledge on a vast array of topics. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses the Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion skill if you are proficient in that skill.
- When you expend mana to cast a wizard spell, you can temporarily replace its damage type with a type that appears in another spell in your spellbook, magically altering the spell's formula for this casting only.
Animated Archive
Starting at 6th level, You can animate your Arcane Archive, turning it into a versatile spellcasting tool. As a bonus action while the Arcane Archive is on your person, you can cause it to animate, becoming a Tiny creature hovering in an unoccupied space of your choice within 60 feet of you. It shares your initiative in combat, but can't take take any actions. The animated archive is a construct with an AC equal to your Intelligence score, and hit points equal to your maximum mana. Its Constitution, Dexterity and Strength are 10, and it shares your Wisdom, Charisma and Intelligence ability scores. It has a flying speed of 30 feet and can hover. It can hear and see, and it has darkvision with a range of 60 feet. The animated archive can telepathically share with you what it sees and hears (no action required). When the animated archive drops to 0 hit points, it reverts to its original object form before immediately teleporting to your side, and any remaining damage carries over to you.
While the archive is animated, you can only cast wizard spells you have memorized, though you can do so without a spellcasting focus as long as the archive is within 150 feet of you. When you cast a wizard spell on your turn, you can cast it as if you were in the animated archive's space, instead of your own, using its senses. You can do so a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
As a bonus action, you can command the Animated Archive to move to an unoccupied space that you or it can see.
The Animated Archive reverts to its original object form and immediately teleports to your side if it is ever more than 300 feet away from you, if someone casts dispel magic on it, if you die, if it drops to 0 hit points, or if you dismiss the archive as a bonus action.
Once you animate the Arcane Archive, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Master Scrivener
Starting at 10th level, your connection with your Arcane Archive allows you to quickly memorize spells. As a bonus action, you can replace one spell you have memorized with another spell from your archive. You can't use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.Additionally, the time it takes for you to memorize a spell is halved.
You are also adept at crafting spell scrolls. The gold you must spend and the crafting difficulty to make such a scroll are halved if you use your Wizardly Quill.
One with the Word
Starting at 14th level, your connection to your Arcane Archive has become so profound that your soul has become entwined with it. When you are reduced to 0 hit points while your Arcane Archive is animated, you can transfer your consciousness to your Animated Archive. You become unconscious, are still dying and make death saving throws as normal. During this time your Animated Archive can act on your turn, and you can cast spells through it or take any action that the archive could reasonably perform. Spellcasting still requires you to expend mana, otherwise it follows all the same rules as if the Animated Archive were casting the spell.Your consciousness returns to your body if you regain any hit points.
Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
