Aquos stone

Aquos is the name given to the specialist rock compound created by the mireiyans for the purpose of building a city underwater.  The rock is capable of being moulded into gravity-defying shapes, holding the shape it's moulded into in the first few hours. The strength of the rock can vary based on the amount of pressure applied to it during the hardening process, and so the best results are a result of the mireiyans working it at the bottom most depths of the ocean. This material is essential for their civilisation, as it's a strong and safe option for their underwater civilisation to remain secure and watertight, as well as being a highly desireable export and key trade good they could use.   Aquos is named after the archipelagos the mireiyans once travelled between frequently before the discovery of aquos, out of respect for the nomadic lifestyle they once had and representative of the flexibility and adaptability of the society to change as they need, fitting their environment like water in a puddle. This flexible nature and the gravity defying feats it's capable of is predominantly sought by artisans for creative projects. Mireiyans are happy and actively encourage this use, and so do their best to supply it at a reasonable price. Other nations however had sanctions in place to avoid them from using it for military purposes without their knowledge, as the rock by its nature is much more practical in water than most conventional metals and could be refined enough to make a dangerous arsenal for underwater combat - a risk they didn't want to take. The solution for this was to supply their own artisans when working on contracts for other countries, providing an extra source of income off of this single export, as it also nets work for their citizens as well.
