ARCHIVE Anwer

Ă–rista Anwan, or Anwer, is a mix of peoples and cultures, largely because there is hardly any political infrastructure and the land is controlled mainly be mercenary companies (called kenways) who help merchants travel from one land to another. There are some permanent settlements in Anwer, but they never get very large because mercenaries are fond of keeping each other in check. No one truly claims to be from Anwer, but mercenaries throughout Laerdt'nah usually have some kind of connection to Anwer and it has been said that any mercenary can find a safe camp to sleep in within Anwer's borders.

The People of Anwer

The people of Answer are as varied as they come, with more cultures and ethnicities interacting in Anwer than in nearly any other nation. Anwer is dotted with independent villages ruled over by Aztans, who are often also the chiefs of small mercenary groups. Most people in Anwer are motivated by coin, or at least the promise of something for them in exchange for whatever they do. The most unsavoury Aztans deal with some of the goblins and Tabaxi in Tsrach, but most keep at least one scout posted close the Severnt Trail and occasionally travel on specific circuits, looking for work.

Indigenous Peoples

The Zagash are a storied people, and many Zagash still remain in Daendar, Anwer, and Tsrach. They were a people of two minds: life on the coast, and life in the mountains. The first Zagash lived by the sea in the winter and lived in the mountains in the summer. Some Zagash, tired of that life, moved into the plains and rocky crags of Anwer and Tsrach, forming small villages that traded ores and other goods with the Kukul and the rest of the Zagash. As trade increased, the Kukul and the Zagash began to intermarry, and the descendants of those couples eventually founded trading and mining empires that fell away from their cultural heritage.
