Kerm Trokes

A wealthy merchant caravanner from Breekwood Burrow, did business crossing the Feldek mountain ranges and making a profit off of long-range deliveries. He served as an economic advisor for Gaius Bronzen during his reign over the Kurtail Burrow from 1020 to 1029 when he was killed during the Failed Siege of Kurtail.

Early Life

Kerm Trokes was born into a notable wealthy family in Breekwood Burrow. He, as well as his 6 siblings' upbringing were relatively modest in comparison to the other families around the time, with most of his life being dedicated to flirting with girls around his age and being disciplined by his teachers for neglecting his studies. Despite this, he was able to get into the prestigious Breekwood Trade Academy where he excelled at navigation, geography, treasury and diplomacy. Before his graduation year however, he dropped out and took a job with the Breekwood Shipping Company at the age of 17 in 1012.

Career

Though initially, Trokes had wanted to join the Breekwood Shipping Company as a navigator, he found himself in the position of a caravan quartermastery job. This lasted until 1015 when he met his future wife, Arlyn Trokes (no relation) who compelled him to start his own trading company. His first job as an independent caravanner was to Kurtail Burrow in 1016, however he delayed the trip until 1019 due to his spouse, Arlyn, giving birth to a litter of his children.   After delivery of several goods to the newly-established Kurtail Sovereignty in 1020, Kerm was introduced to, Kurtail Sovereign at the time, Gaius Bronzen, who extended an offer for an economic advisory position as Kurtail lacked many college-educated minds, and wished to draw closer to the Southern Burrows economic sphere with the help of an outsider. Kerm agreed and set about economic reforms in Kurtail over the next seven years. These reforms included tax breaks for the upper-class to attract businesses, higher tariffs on imported goods to fuel a more self-sufficient economy, and incentives for workers to invest money back into their own family units to promote a stable growth in the new generations.

Death

During the first Failed Siege of Kurtail by the Jorazan army, led by Sommen Albor, Kerm was fleeing from danger with several other diplomats when he ran into a battle between Jorazan soldiers fighting Kurtail militiamen, who mistook them for enemy combatants and cut down the unarmed daga, among them Kerm Trokes, who bled out.
