Kurtail Sovereignty

The Kurtail Sovereignty was a progressive-monarchist government which ruled itself over the Kurtail Burrow from its inception in 1018 to its decline and eventual ruination in 1036 at the hands of Tralharan barbarians. Though initially successful in maintaining a high autonomy over its surrounding territories, and opening several profitable trade routes with Southern Burrow merchants, the Kurtail Sovereignty suffered from a myriad of social, economic and military conflicts that weakened the kingdom enough to leave it vulnerable for western barbarian tribesdaga to descend and eventually pillage and destroy the country.   The initial signs of economic decline appeared as early as 1028 to 1029 when a Jorazan Army led by Sommen Albor attempted to siege Kurtail Burrow, forcing Sovereign Gaius I to personally redirect his forces away from ongoing skirmishes along the Euphentos River with the Kalnoon. After defeating the Jorazan, Kurtail came under siege a second time by Kalnoon armies who had crossed the river, but once again the siege was repelled before any major damage was done. During the battles however, several important figureheads of the burrow were slain, that of Kerm Trokes, a wealthy merchant caravanner representing a Breekwood trading company acting as an economic advisor, and Stello Volantis, a leading agricultural scientist who pioneered the use of crop-rotational tools. Without these key figures, the kingdom would later suffer from famine and economic collapse from a lack of confidence in foreign trade.
