Rook
Rook was a Tiefling Ranger Beast Master operating in Talevir around the year 850. She was a former scout for the military force at the Rangefort who later moved on to work as guard escort for the Avowed monks at Candlekeep. During her military career, she was assigned to patrol the Rustlands and report on the area between Ranger's Faltering and Rounder's Rest, becoming a specialist in navigating swampy terrain and dealing with monstrosities of the marshes as a crossbow expert.
By her late thirties, she began making a deeper connection to the land she patrolled and formed a strong bond to a primal beast of the heath and wetlands. At the end of her service to Rangefort, she moved to the south end of Ranger's Reach and the comparatively tame wetlands of the delta surrounding Cooperage. The greater numbers of citizens moving between villages or venturing out from the city than the sparse populations in the north allowed her to use her skills as wildlands expert and her experience in scouting and fighting as a ranger-for-hire in spite of the comparatively few monstrous creatures in the central and southern coast. At the age of 40 in the year 841, she had a daughter, Magpie, and signed on as retainer at Candlekeep for Avowed and Seekers needing escort or guide from the library city. She was happy to settle in to protecting those aligned to the preservation of knowledge rather than protecting the mining interests of the Realm and enjoyed when her job gave her opportunity to bring scholars out into the wilds and maybe give them a sense of their worth.
Her companion primal beast was a mystical avatar of nature from the moors and heathlands but typically took the form of a raven with a bit of a glow to their purple-green iridescence and with glowing red rims of their eyes. Rook referred to them as Fletch in their avian forms but when presenting as a swimming giant constrictor snake she referred to them as Stretch and called them Vetch when appearing as a stag.

THE BOOK OF THE RAVEN
About sixty feet ahead, the raven perched upon a headstone. Rook came closer to the raven carefully so as not to spook it away. "That's close enough," she thought. Her eyes closed and she focused on the connection between creatures that the weave ties together. Wringing her hands into the familiar patterns, a quiet comprehension overcomes as her spell takes hold. In fluent Ravenspeak, Rook questions the raven: "What are you doing here? Why are you following us?" The raven stares back for a moment, as if taking her in. "Go away. This is no place for you." The raven responds before taking flight and retreating to the mansion nearby. That, Rook thought, was no raven.Rook's adventuring under the hire of the Library of Candlekeep eventually brought her into the company of Summer FallWinterSpring, Lufoki Aeons and Drockfraed Flintstone. Together, these adventurers set forth to investigate the abrupt ending of a book delivered to Candlekeep by a raven. Additionally, they were tasked with vetting any signs of the Vistani, a group of planar travelers. The party followed the map provided by the book of the raven, overcoming challenges on their lengthy journey. At the end of the map, the party found an old mansion functioning as the makeshift home of the Wareravens of the Scarlet Sash. Together with the Scarlet Sash, the adventurers moved through a Shadow Crossing and destroyed a number of ghouls, retrieving the remains of a small girl and laid her to rest once more in the material plane (hopefully sealing the Shadow Crossing in the process).
