Reine

Reine is a Half-Wood Elf Barbarian. She is an adjunct professor at Saddleback University in Foal's Landing, specializing in the research of Griffins and Hippogriffs. Reine led seasonal trips between Saddleback University and the peaks of the Shorn Cliffs, in order to do direct research on the relationship between griffins and hippogriffs. Such research excursions were financed by the university. The monks at the Galewind Monastery provide hospitality to Reine and her companions during these trips.

Tenzen had told them to stay off the roads. For four days, Reine had been able to chart a course through the wilds of the Shorn Cliffs. They traveled swiftly and carefully. "Four days," Reine thought, looking at the road below. The route through Driver's Gap will provide less cover, as the woods give way to foothills long-tamed by grazing livestock. The choice weighed on her mind as Faith wrapped an arm around her and looked up to her with those silver eyes. The responsibility was new to Reine, but she vowed to keep this young one safe and so she will.

Reine's expedition to Galewind Peak was financed by Saddleback University, and as such, she was able to hire Fario Surel as a bodyguard and traveling companion. The two spent much of the season on the top of the mountain, hosted by the monks at the Galewind Monastery. While Reine committed her days to rigorous observation of Griffins and Hippogriffs, Fario trained with his sword. When it was time to depart from the monastery, Fario and Reine agreed to travel with a Halfling with mysterious powers, Barry Well. The three moved down from the mountaintop monastery and were about an hour down the trail when they were surprised by the appearance of the monk Tenzen, with the young Faith in tow. Tenzen explained that the monastery was unsafe for Faith to remain and implored Reine and the party to take her to the west of Talevir to avoid the clutches of a sect within the Order of the Centrum Zicht, known as the Shades, who appear to have dark plans for the young monk. The party agrees and takes Faith in under their wing, making their escape as Tenzen distracted a member of the Shades.
After the better part of a week traveling southwest, off-road, the party returned to the road to navigate passage through Driver's Gap. Upon their return to the road, a Shadow Monk of the Shades catches up with them and attacks, trying to obtain Faith. The party fends off these attempts, burns the monk's body and hides him along bushes near the river bank, for good measure. They make their way to the relative safety of the town of Farhill. Once in Farhill, the party enters into the Two Door Tavern and participate in a few rounds of Sheepskin Dodge.
