Fario Surel

Fario Surel is a Human Bard of the College of Swords. Best known as the First Sword of the Talevir Lord's Alliance, Fario has been widely regarded as one of the finest swordsmen of his age across all of Talevir. In the year 895, Fario was ejected from his position within the Lord's Alliance and was exiled from the capital of Stagshead. It is not widely known what happened to warrant his sudden expulsion from favor within the capital.   After a few years of traveling and doing mercenary work, Fario began moving westward towards Foal's Landing with the intention of booking passage on a ship to leave Talevir. Upon arrival in Foal's Landing, Fario was too short on coin to pay his way onto a ship. In need of coin, he took a simple escort job for a professor at Saddleback University. Fario served Reine as a traveling companion and bodyguard on the trek from the west coast of Talevir to the heights of Galewind Peak in the northeast of the continent.

He clutched his side and hobbled toward the smoldering, slumped-over body. With a wave of his hand, the final flame extinguishes. This burned corpse had been quite the skilled fighter, Fario thought. He prodded the monk's body with his sword as the halfling, Barry Well, approached. "What do we say to the God of death?" Fario declared as he sheathed his sword, "Not today."
Fario had accompanied Reine to Galewind Monastery on her research expedition. While Reine committed her days to rigorous observation of Griffins and Hippogriffs, Fario trained with his sword. When it was time to depart from the monastery, Fario and Reine agreed to travel with a Halfling with mysterious powers, Barry Well. The three moved down from the mountaintop monastery and were about an hour down the trail when they were surprised by the appearance of the monk Tenzen, with the young Faith in tow. Tenzen explained that the monastery was unsafe for Faith to remain and implored Reine and the party to take her to the west of Talevir to avoid the clutches of a sect within the Order of the Centrum Zicht, known as the Shades, who appear to have dark plans for the young monk. The party agrees and takes Faith in under their wing, making their escape as Tenzen distracted a member of the Shades.   After the better part of a week traveling southwest, off-road, the party returned to the road to navigate passage through Driver's Gap. Upon their return to the road, a Shadow Monk of the Shades catches up with them and attacks, trying to obtain Faith. The party fends off these attempts, burns the monk's body and hides him along bushes near the river bank, for good measure. They make their way to the relative safety of the town of Farhill. Once in Farhill, the party enters into the Two Door Tavern and participate in a few rounds of Sheepskin Dodge.
