Atessa Ruminant
Atessa Ruminant was a young Wizard's apprentice based in Talevir. She grew up in a poor farming village in the great Central Plains region of Talevir. One day, Atessa was exploring the ruins of an old stone structure nearby her village and found an old, moldy spellbook. After some study of the spells within, Atessa found she had a proclivity for the arcane and went in search to learn more. She ultimately found herself in the employ of a wizard, and by his side, learned a number of great works through magic.
However, Atessa demanded more. Her thirst for greater knowledge and power could not be sated. She left the side of her master, absconding with some of his own research and works. She sought out greater knowledge in the old wizard towers at the base of The Spine, just east of Stagshead. Her journey brought her in touch with Rita Repulsa, who was on a similar pilgrimage. Fate would bind the two together until Atessa's old master would catch up to her...
The Sea's Well
The old man steps forward and reaches into Atessa’s pocket, revealing a book with adamantine inlaid across its cover and spine. “You disappoint me, apprentice.” The wizard speaks to Atessa. “Surely you did not think I would allow you to raid my work without consequence.” He turns to the party, “This acquaintance of yours owes me a debt. I advise you to set aside your dealings with her until her debt is paid.” He turns back to the chained Atessa, “come, apprentice.” And with a swish of his staff, a brilliant light fills the chamber and both the chained Atessa and the wizard vanish. On her journey to the wizard towers, Atessa was caught up by a serendipitous tangle of lives and objectives. Her path forward with Rita brought them in touch with a figure named Ebrouhu Reeja, a bard that offered to show them their way to these towers for a fee. However, Ebrouhu himself was marked by another: Shrike Scrivenor, hellbent on finding her estranged brother. Shrike had information that Ebrouhu and her brother, Jackdaw, used to run together in a gang called the Velvet Sons. Ebrouhu takes the new party to the tavern, the Fork and Tankard, where the Velvet Sons do much of their business in Stagshead. A prolonged conflict occurred, leaving all suspects dead or fleeing. Shrike strongly persuades Ebrouhu, Atessa and Rita to travel to Cooperage by way of Hartsport. However, before they could book passage on a ship, Atessa's old master arrived, chained and bound Atessa for stealing from his works and teleported out with Atessa, presumably to begin repentance.
