Campaign Events
General Summary
This is a general recap of everything the party has encountered so far. New players can choose what their character might know from the information provided, and may include details tying their backstories to the existing party. Consult the DM for a more detailed account of these events.
Starting Members: Desmond, Rowan, Cinder, Ungael, Pupillus
The party first started their journey in a Tavern within Lakeroad, where they encountered a man (Agent of Tori Tori) speaking about a group of bandits nearby. The party noticed he dropped a map with the location of said encampment, and then proceeded to raid said camp soon after. Towards the end of said battle, the bandit leader who happened to be a dwarven artificer, took out a strange rod from his inventory and activated it. This caused the party and the bandit leader to be teleported to a strange demiplane, where they discovered several portals that seemed to activate upon their arrival. These portals transported skeletal minotaurs that engaged the party, and so the group continued fighting on while struggling to deactivate the portals. Once victory was found the group started to explore this strange area and look for a way out, they also made a deal with a dwarf to cooperate before exploring and studying the foreign machinery. The group found a tome, and another book with a language they failed to decipher. The party’s Artificer Cinder began to experiment with the main console of the demiplane where certain inputs were pressed and soon enough the Party found themselves transported once again. They were back into the material plane but not anywhere recognizable, and so they began to study the landscape and look for clues. While doing so they encountered hostile ghosts, and wild magic phenomena that triggered whenever magic was cast. The party eventually discovered that this happened to be the Lost Bridge, (South of Portsmith) and so they cautiously made their way north to get back to civilization. This is where they encountered Vernath, a dragonborn Paladin of the Ancients who seemed to be on a quest to restore the balance of nature. Vernath seemed to be here on instruction from his Patron to aid the group, and so he joined them in hopes they might bring about a prophecy he had faith in. The growing party continued their travels to Portsmith to resupply where they found themselves in another challenging situation. Our Thief Rogue Rowan put his ear to the ground to gather some rumors and discovered a Peacekeeper (Highly Trained Agents of Aurum) happened to be in this town. He informed the party they did not have a great relationship with this organization, and so they decided to leave town immediately and camp in the woods. Their attempts failed as the next morning a note was found outside their Leomund's Tiny Hut, which instructed Rowan to meet with Dawson the Peacekeeper nearby. The group split up with Rowan, Cinder, and Desmond trying to secure transport while the others scouted the town to look for signs of trouble. That was the plan at least… but the Dragonborns decided they would speak with Dawson and headed straight to the Tavern meeting place. Rowan noticed this causing him to rush over with Cinder, and Desmond following close behind. An awkward tense conversation was being had between Ungael and Dawson before Rowan arrived and things became even more dramatic after the subtle hint about a royal assassination was dropped. Dawson was accompanied by a few Iron Boar guards and seemed to be a traitor to his oath. This caused a battle to break out which resulted in the death of Dawson as well as a random Civilian who was purposely neglected by our Cleric Pupillus after casting Spirit Guardians. In the immediate aftermath of the fight, a surrendering Gnoll was taken hostage, Pupillus used Speak with dead on Dawson, and Vernath casted Gentle Repose on dawson. A letter with mixed languages was found on Dawson's body requesting proof of loyalty which confirmed the treachery. The group traveled North with bodies, and a prisoner but lost said inmate on the journey after it rammed its head into a dagger while being interrogated by Rowan. We had planned to reach Petin in order to revivify the body of Dawson, but things didn’t go as planned once more. Along the way we fought cultists of Ttrang'hu'matsu, and eventually made our way to the town of Pitrest where we secured horses, and a carriage after following Desmond’s Deception Plan.
The party picked up a Tea house job to take out some bandits and recover product before finally reaching Zabandburg. The party made quick work of the ill trained bandits and turned 9 of them into the town guard after arrival. We settled some business at Linhorn's Ales and Cures before settling in for the night. Desmond approached Cinder with freshly brewed Prosperitea which he claimed might help them unravel the mystery of the tome they found, and perhaps learn more about the teleportation rod/Demiplane. Cinder used her magic to unseal the bindings on the book before the pages seemed to glow and burn away as they fluttered outward. Cinder in this very moment happened to unseal a being known as The Philosopher who immediately used its powers to travel to the University of Glaton Uklonata. Once there it tortured students, and staff with strange magic before forcing one student to nearly kill his classmate so that it could implant a God Shard into Cinder. Cinder while resting that night awoke to strange new powers, and unfamiliar magic coursing through her. In a panicked frightened state she fled, and wiped the memories of her party ever knowing her. The following morning Desmond awoke to find the faint smell of lemonade, and a strange blank book containing a small blue gem and a scroll of Divination. The sounds of fighting outside halted his investigation, and so Desmond rallied with ungael outside to see a battle between Iron Boar Assassins and the rest of the party minus Cinder. By the time they got there to help the damage was done, Pupillus and Vernath were both slain in combat and the body of Dawson stolen. The group sorted out plans to pursue them but were intercepted by a new face. A human woman by the name of Jocelyn Elric confronted Rowan about something secretive (Thieves Cant). After some deliberation Rowan convinced the party she could be trusted, and so we journeyed West to Stahville in order to secure intel about the Iron boars. The body of Pupillus was burned, and the body of Vernath was returned to the Rotting Men who were a part of his Order. While traveling West Desmond happened to notice he was cut off from his patron, and so in an attempt to rectify this he used the divination scroll he found. The scroll allowed him to perceive all of the events that occurred at the University and recover some of the memories of Cinder. This also allowed the Philosopher to be aware of Desmond and his Patron. He relayed what he could about these visions to the rest of the party before continuing on with their plans to infiltrate Stahville. It was not long before we discovered the town to be occupied by Iron Boars, and unfortunately many of its citizenry were killed or under lockdown. The Iron Boar presence was massive and seemed to be fortifying for a conflict. After talking things over the party snuck in as a supply caravan, then had our two rogues scout the headquarters where they would eventually betray their orders and attempt to breach the building. Rowan was seen peering through a window by Holam (Iron Boar Leader) before he decided to cite bad poetry to the target (Also Holam) we were supposed to snatch… this did not turn out well. The guards were alerted and the group rendezvoused outside the town where an argument was briefly had. We only made it out with a few documents and an ominous message from Shykintot, Ungael and Desmond also began to suffer withdrawal effects from the Tea they drank in Zabandburg. The messed up party fled south to reorganize where Desmond pitched the idea of going to Uli’ Ator to report our findings, and convince the Council to enter a peace agreement so that the Iron Boar Crimes could be fully investigated. The party seemed to be in reluctant agreement as we made our next move to the port city of Hesjing Caesin.
Before setting off westward to acquire a ship, Desmond purchased more Prosperitea because he believed he might need it to convince the Council of his mission, this resulted in him getting punched in the face by Rowan, and lectured that using teas is taking things too far. Rowan made plans to destroy the tea house supply but realized it might be too dangerous, and backed out. After the drama died down we found ourselves aboard a ship heading North and took time to learn a bit about each other. While on the Ship the Party was confronted by a simulacrum of Shykintot that had replaced a crew member, and so we quickly killed the copy, and continued our travels. While on our Sea Voyage the party destroyed an Iron Boar pirate vessel and developed some better relations with our Darastrixthe ship captain/crew. Upon reaching Uli Ator we were confronted with the harshness of winter cold, and the roads being locked down due to an unknown threat. Desmond also decided to declare the party as a traveling cooking/mercenary company known as Cutlery Incorporate. We volunteered to confront the issues of having the passage East blocked, and after venturing further down the roads we found a Yeti that seemed to be raiding the caravans. Shortly after defeating the Yeti our group found another cave that had an evil weave born named Unmaker that was possessing a drow adventurer. This Weaveborn happened to be a Penitent Crusader that wished to recreate the blood rituals used by the Ursu, and had killed several Torians. Desmond was able to eventually interrogate them and decipher their intentions (Read Crazed Note Here). The party then traveled from the Port Hornar to Thelmir and discovered many stone constructs that happened to be attacking anyone in sight. While in the Town of Thelmir we encountered another Shykintot Simulacrum that honeypotted Rowan and most likely probed his mind with dominate person. Additionally the party decided to take on a few jobs to create the Alibi of their occupation. This included being part of a full service luxury event for some very notable figures in Uli Ator (Mostly Business Owners, and some Representatives).
After handling these affairs we were able to secure passage to Haldfalt, however Rowan said he couldn't go with us because of things he did years ago so we let him go elsewhere. Upon arriving we were ambushed by the Order of Whispers and taken to their headquarters for questioning. We explained some of our reasons for being in Uli Ator and were released shortly after our arrival due to a tip from Ursu regarding an imminent attack on the city. Upon our release we linked up with the person that delivered said package, who Desmond knew. A Reborn known as Elijah joined the party in hopes of providing some sanity to his troubled friend, and soon we were able to inform Rowan of a place he could hide now that Uli Ator knows he's here. We also linked up with Krafter who we knew could help us acquire magic items for the big job. Unfortunately some words were slipped about the weave born by Ungeal which prompted Krafter to demand we hand over Unmaker on behalf of Irzu. Desmond was determined to know more about Irzu, and further information regarding the Weaveborn known as Unmaker. So he requested we be able to deliver the Weaveborn to Irzu in person, which happened shortly after the deal with Krafter. We used a teleportation circle (Hidden) in Krafters Workshop to meet with Irzu and have a brief discussion which seemed to go nowhere. Krafter handed Unmaker over to her and Elijah was scolded for bringing us here sooner than requested. We arrived back to Uli Ator safely after our visit then proceeded to secure political aid for the Council to form a Coalition against the Iron Boars. Shortly after our return we heard the city in a panic as an attack upon the headquarters had finally occurred. The party sprung into action so that the citizens could escape the chaos, which is where they found a strange Paladin Dryad known as Sycamore. This Dryad seemed to be on a quest to find certain individuals that could provide knowledge on his Mentor. He was from the United Lands, and was a child during the initial breach of the Anethum. He possesses a strange symbiotic entity that seems to be somewhat autonomous (Not known by many). The party decided to take him in, and try to help him with his quest in return for his services. The attacks on Haldfalt were made by what seemed to be a very large evil version of Vernath leading an army of stone constructs, but they were repelled by the Order of Whispers who seemed to be well prepared for the attack.
After the battle had passed some deals were made with the Order to bring Rowan in for a mission regarding Karinthia. After agreeing Rowan was kitted out with magic items and sent to a teleportation circle where he would be transported to a hidden circle in the Capital City of Karinthia. It was now his mission to inform his family of the Iron Boar treachery discovered by the Order of Whispers and potentially convince the Monarch to end the War. It just so happened that Rowan had reached his family just as they were being attacked by General Tharrians assassins, and unfortunately his father Emerson Langston (Active Commander of the Peacekeepers) was killed during the mayhem. After grieving briefly Rowan took the others to try and secure the Royal Family where they discovered they had also fallen victim to the coup. So the remaining loyalists decided they would join Rowan to find an exit, but came across Tharrian herself in a large corridor where he witnessed his sister get snatched and killed easily. The remaining group narrowly escaped through secret backrooms and returned to Uli Ator through the provided Circle. Some Peacekeepers and other staff members made it back to Uli Ator along with the now True Queen of Aurum Nicolette Langston and Rowan's brother Liam (Nicolette becomes Queen because they are next in line to the throne after the royal Family and her husband). Tharrian claims Uli’ Ator is responsible for the death of the Royal family in a propaganda piece, and was appointed successor. (Tharrian's Speech )
This all occurred while the party plotted, schemed, and fought to secure as much aid as we could within Haldfalt before finding ourselves a big job under a representatives request. This job had us go to the Mantle where we joined a river boat crew tasked to clear a den of aberrations blocking a major salt water project. There we encountered a small contingent of the Anethum which we promptly destroyed what we could of it. Desmond informed Irvel of the situation, and requisitioned a firebombing of the entire site and all bodies encountered within that area. Desmond returned to hear the news of Karinthia which accelerated the Council hearing prompting an opportunity to speak on behalf of his intelligence. We had also discovered during our scheming that there was an individual turning people into demonic abominations by the name of Huvibriarakk. They are second in command to Tharrian and have found a way to enter the hells via residual magic from the Shattered Waste. Much like Tharrian they have ties to the nation of Rahkain, and once held dominion in the Rising City.
Halfway through our journeys in Uli Ator we discovered Ungael had the soul of General Aahdenonth residing within him. It was discovered that Irzu wished to use that fact as a means to control her Wildlands general Nelentos from stepping out of line due to his relations to Aahdenonth. We also Discovered that Irzu had purposely shrouded history, and wanted to maintain control of the world's power structure. It was discovered that she was a god killer, and used the blood rituals to recruit Penitent Crusaders.
Desmond had compiled several different accounts and conclusions while making deals to secure a Representative title which allowed him to address the Council directly. He spent every second he could writing a formal address, and making sure his words were expertly crafted. When the meeting day finally arrived Desmond delivered his speech to perfection, and was able to convince the entire Grand Council as well as 149/150 representatives to adhere to plans tied to his Address. (Desmond Speech )
The next day Irzu had shown up killing several Torian guards and demanding Ungael to be seized. The party fled to Darastrixthe via teleportation circle (hidden), where they had initially planned to go after the Council meeting was concluded. They arrived in Daktin before heading North to secure naval transport to Jhanter where they wished to commune with the spirit of Aahdenonth. While on their travels they encountered members of the Chromatic Enclave that attacked them. Upon further investigation along with the apprehension of one of its members, the party discovered that Shykintot has been kidnapping dragonborn citizens to transform their bodies and minds to be subservient to the Enclave. The Party relays the information to the proper channels before proceeding to acquire naval transport which has them boarding a military vessel. While on this ship we joined the crew to hunt a large Aurum Frigate called the Western Queen. Upon its sighting our party along with the Darastrixthe crew assaulted the vessel and took down its occupants. Below deck we discovered a gross Demon captained the ship and had close ties to its creator Huvibriarakk, upon killing it we heard a voice callout and cast spells through its body. We discovered that Huvibriarakk is able to tap into individuals he has marked regardless whether they are dead or alive. Dispel magic can be used to nullify this connection, as well as burning the bodies. After the victory we took the Western Queen with us back to Jhainter but before we arrived we made a stop by an island we noted to be linked to Enclave activity. This Island happened to be an Enclave outpost where we discovered the Dracolich Loexloresvek, who permitted us a few questions for an ominous future favor. Desmond was able to confirm the nature of the Blood Rituals through Loexloresvek. The Blood rituals are a means to an end which will always be reversed over time, and their sacrifice is often much greater than anticipated. Anything you wish to achieve with a Bloodritual will eventually find itself dismantled in the future. We were also given a little bit more insight into Rahkain and Huvibriarakk’s mark but not much else.
After leaving the island, the party finally reached Jhainter where they searched for aid to confront the Draconic Council that rules the nation of Darastrixthe. The party found themselves upon a Library where they met with a council scribe, and through a series of conversations unveiled an "ancient document that was written by a Metallic Roamer before Therion had betrayed them during the end of the God Wars (Read Here). These writings had been presented to the Council by Aahdenonth many years ago and were ignored which is another reason why they are so inflammatory to the power structure controlling Darastrixthe right now. Elijah devised a plan to print these records in mass with the help of a local comic shop's tech and press equipment. He wanted to make sure the people of Darastrixthe were properly informed so they could put further pressure on the council to change their position. Desmond had to leave this operation to the others when news of Cinder had reached Irvel. Desmond teleported back to Uli’ Ator to lead a joint operation alongside his old cohorts Hotel Backbone and the newly made Demi-god Cinder of the Green Forge. Together they fought a twin version of Vernath that fused to a shard of Tiamat, the same one that had attacked Haldfalt several days ago. Loexlorsvek in Dragon Form joined this fight, and aided the group for unknown reasons before striking a deal with Cinder to recognize the shattered wastes autonomy. Unaware and still new to the complexities of god oaths she agreed on the condition that Loexloresvek send aid to the Livecte order to hold off the Anethum. After the deal was made we then Traveled east to meet with Aurum Resistance fighters near the Industrial City of Austa. We encountered a very vulgar casted engineer named Friedreich who agreed to aid our assault on the Mines where the ruling Demons seemed to reside. Together we defeated the Fiends and removed their marks but Friedreich fell victim to their enforcer. Upon returning to his cave we saw a machine he created using power from a shard of Bahamut to transport his soul from his dead casted body into a new one. Cinder aided him in this transformation, and a new Demi-god was born with a more tranquil personality.
While this was happening the Darastrixthe group was busy with finding groups to aid their cause. A Kobold Tavern Tycoon by the name of Tekskrovodas requested we convince the owners of a bar to sell their establishment. Upon reaching said bar Ungael told the owner who he was, and what he was trying to do as well as mentioning the document they had found. The owner made a deal with Ungael in exchange for the document location, he would gladly sell the bar. Ungael agreed which resulted in a future dilemma where our Scribe was kidnapped and then almost disintegrated by The Cult of Ttrang'hu'matsu. The group continued to push on and got into contact with Nyrdiess Votythaser who was a powerful dragonborn leader that oversaw matters of national security for Darastrixthe. Eventually Ungael decided now was the time he would commune with Tursaljth (Aahdenonths Axe). So the group went to Aahdenonth’s old chambers that held the axe and so Ungael demanded access to Tursaljth. He then broke through the seals that required a Council Members presence and communed with the Axe. The party then tried to leave but were met by council guards and Lorsyssthae who detained Ungael, Jocelynn, Sycamore, Elijah, and Nezen. While the group was being escorted to the Guard building, all members of the party except for Ungael decided they were going to escape. A frantic situation followed as the party seemed to scatter and Jocelynn was nearly killed. Several days of unrest had passed after the arrest of Ungael before he found himself being let free by Nyrdiess, who informed him that he would be bringing each Council Member to trial. The party regrouped minus Desmond still and proceeded to organize when they realized The Cult of Ttrang'hu'matsu was up to something nearby. They quickly made their way to the location but were intercepted by The Chromatic Enclave. A short battle was fought as the group hastily made their way to the target building before being interrupted once more by Loexloresvek. The Dracolich offered to trade the body Shykintot Prime for something from the Council Chambers. Ungael agreed to this arrangement, and business was concluded as the group pushed on to find the Cultist. There we found Irsauriv (Cult Leader of Ttrang'hu'matsu) performing a strange ritual in a large building. The party fought to bring an end to this madness but found it difficult to put a stop to Irsauriv who seemed to return to life each time he was killed due to an Amulet. Eljiah tried to decipher the workings of the ritual but found it difficult to multitask between saving the lives of his companions or focusing time on shutting the magic down. Loexloresvek entered the fight soon after it began, dropping the body of Shykintot in front of everyone before attacking Irsauriv. Things eventually came to an end with the Dracolich taking the amulet off Irsauriv and altering the ritual which shut down the resurrection of Ttrang'hu'matsu. The party witnessed Loexloresvek bite and tear into the god before retrieving its shard, leaving the party to deal with the aftermath. During the moment of Ttrang'hu'matsu downfall 50,000 souls of Darastrixthe citizenry were raptured and taken by Loexloresvek to be imported into undead bodies in the Shattered waste (Only known by certain individuals). While this Event occurred many things in the world also happened due to the Wild Magic Surge of the chaos god being released. Desmond was shown visions of old pre-god war Heroes defeating Irzu in an alternate reality which happened to coincide with the Battle of Matrons that was taking place South of Karinthia. Tharrian had defeated the God Killer Irzu in combat and many of her penitent crusaders also perished to the IBL demons. All of the god shards wielded by Irzu were then taken by the Philosopher and scattered across the world fusing random people to them the same way they did with Cinder. The party licked their wounds and Desmond returned to the group to provide damage control to a very ugly situation. It was also revealed that Loexloresvek had taken the body of the ancient dragon Lorsyssthae as part of the deal Ungael previously made. Nalentos son of Aahdenonth shows up to act as head of state and speaks with the party about the events that have transpired along with Rupert who was handed control of the Wildlands over to by Nalentos. Desmond recommends a trial for all parties involved, both council members and rebels, to be decided by the people with Nalentos as unbiased mediator. Desmond wished to discover hidden truths about the council and proceeded to raid Lorsyssthae’s chambers in hopes of finding a connection to Irzu. Unable to open the various magically sealed chests, Desmond requested the aid of Nalentos who was able to crack the code. Within the findings were records of discussions between Lorsyssthae and Irzu that would justify the actions of the rebellion. (Lorsyssthae Notes Here).
