Desmonds Speech
Accounts of this Speech differ depending on the indivual, some parts of the speech may be excluded to the public for national security reasons.
I was born to humble origins, I have never been tied to any political affiliations, nor have I any interest in rising through these systems of power for personal gain. I never wanted to be the Desmond described to you by the Order or the criminal degenerate that the Nobles claim I am. The truth is that I only ended up here because I was a naive kid trying to buy back their childhood. I paid for my Sins, and I fought your war in the shadows for years. I have exhausted myself for the benefit of this great empire, and it is time for that effort to be reciprocated. Not just for me but for all of us who have bled for the cause, who fight for the end of this terrible war.
I stand before you all today in deliverance of words which will determine the future of this land and those that neighbor it. No soul in this trap of existence knows my trust, but I must lend it to you all now for the fate of our people. This Empire can not afford to wage war without knowing the threats which lie beyond our horizon. The Iron Boars have condemned this world by attempting to harness that which we have fought tirelessly to banish. The might of Uli’ Ator has forced General Tharrian to foster power from the remnants of the long past God War. I hold before you now a lost tome of agony recovered from a traitorous Peace Keeper by the name of Dawson. This individual was tasked with procuring artifacts for the Iron Boar war effort as well as stealing military intelligence from the Aurum Empire. My team was only able to extract minimal information from this operative due to their Arm Band of Loyalty granting them a swift exit. We hoped to extract his body for revival but were intercepted by an Iron Boar kill team which murdered two of my companions. After we lost the body we attempted to secure alternative intelligence involving a high priority target known as Hollam. This individual was responsible for the occupation of Stahville and committed several atrocities against the Aurum populace. Due to the heavy surveillance in that region we were unable to secure our HVT but were able to slip away with these documents here. This war is beginning to escalate into something much bigger than it should be. We all have our suspicions as to how it was even possible the Darastrixthe Commander Andenat perished to Tharrian. My observations have led me to believe she has harnessed the power of artifacts like these (Holds up the tome) and if we do not come together as responsible nations then we will all suffer. We should be seeking peace with those afflicted by the perpetration of the Iron Boars as well as delaying the opportunity for them to secure additional artifacts. I propose we form a coalition of nations and manifest a congruent effort to eradicate the Iron Boar threat. Darastrixthe, and the Wildlands can not afford to stay idle any longer and must mobilize their forces to engage in tandem with our own. The IBL lines do not have enough supplies or manpower to withstand a simultaneous push from all sides. The fall of Karinthia is troubling though as the sources of the attack have claimed they were besieged by abominations. I have been able to corroborate this intel with the discovery of an individual known as Huvibriarakk, who has been experimenting with converting humanoids into Demons within the walls of the Kath. This would explain why they were occupying the Aurum settlements, in order to procure a larger fighting force to deal with their growing expansion. I strongly advise a treaty to be declared with the remnants of Aurum so that we can network and attempt to starve IBL of their citizenry.
Additionally I have spoken directly with the True Queen of Aurum on the matters of that peace between our people as well as the letter that Tharrian addressed to the populace. The weapon the general is referring to does in fact exist, and it was created by the Kingdom to be used against us as a last resort. I am aware of how you might feel about such a severe action as I too share your anger towards this stunt. However now is not the time for our century old grudges, now is not the time for us to preoccupy our sights on targets that have faltered. We all must rise to confront Therion with as many resources as possible to ensure we don’t suffer more unnecessary casualties. The Queen has been accommodating with her intel and illuminated the weapons capabilities and how we might circumvent its attack on our land and forces. Lastly If we make peace with the United People we can cut off Tharrian from obtaining the shard being used by the Livecte. We may also be able to unravel the mystery as to why they were forced to use it in the first place at the expense of their own people.
Our war effort must reprioritize itself against those that wish to manifest the maximum destruction against us. I ask the council now for permission to access blood ritual technology in order to vanquish divine empowered threats. That request is followed by a declaration of caution, for I have unveiled another threat creeping behind the shadows of this war. If we are to utilize blood rituals against Tharrian, we must develop them without ties to the Mother. Many countries seek to capitalize on the shifting of powers but few of those leaders wish to control the world's defense capabilities as she does. Bad deals always start with a shortage of solutions, hence why she wishes to maintain her monopoly, and infiltrate our main systems of defense against the highest forms of opposition. When you can shut off every country's most sophisticated militarized response at will, you are reaching for tyranny not freedom. I would even go as far to speculate that the General was a failed project of hers to instigate the conditions with which we now find ourselves in.
Many of you may not agree that the severity of the events to which I have described warrant that type of response. I wish more than anything that we did not need to rely on the sinister magic of our dreadful past but we have a responsibility to our people. Our future generations will never know peace if we do not wield our full might against these threats. Our ancestors who fought the demon hordes of the ancient mantle caverns would weep to see us be rendered into hellish fiends. When it comes to your decision to give me the proper aid, glimpse once more to the sigil we bear witness to in our great capital. The names we have immortalized for their sacrifice are owed our preservation and independence. We are the foundation of perseverance, and we do not back down from gods, or mortals for we are the starlight of Ellivia. “Myrkur sem bindur” Long live Uli Ator
