White Cypress Keep

The Military Keep belonging to the Remedii Kingdom, situated on the eastern coast of the White Cypress District of Remedii. Established after the most recent extension of the 'kingdom proper' of Remedii's protection of the region over one hundred years ago.
Its' establishment was likely in response to the declaration of sovereignty by the coalition of pirates taking residence on the small cluster of islands on the north western corner of Remedii. As the pirates dubbed the small kingdom 'Chyrsos Isles' or 'The Golden Isles, the Military Keep would become known as the 'Golden Keep'.
Starting as a simple stone keep situated on a sizable rock ridge along the coast, it had a few families of peasants to occupy the keep and provide food for the soldiers. Over the hundred years, it has swelled to a fierce force of over three thousand soldiers, along with a settlement of two thousand peasants with the number growing.
As the capabilities of The Golden Isles increased, so did the troop force and defenses of the keep. Twenty years into the young kingdom's existence, a small fleet of 20 vessels laid siege to the keep. Lasting three days, with casualties on both sides, the fighting was stopped when a small band of Thassalians, specifically Karchandres (Skarkmen), lead an attack on the vessels in the night. It was routine for the vessels to withdraw far from the keep in the night to avoid any small manned vessels from launching attacks, or cannon fire.   From the small boarding band of Thassalians, the shipcrews were quickly killed, save for the captain of the led ship at the insistence of the leader of the boarding band, a female Karchandres. The Thassalians sailed the lead vessel into the port of the Keep under a flag of Remedii while sounding horns on approach. Upon delivering the vessel and prisoner to the Base Commander, the Thassalians were given audience with the High Arbitrator.
As for the captain turned prisoner, it was decided with the High Military Council and the High Arbitrator, that they would sail with a fleet of 100 vessels to the Gold Isles. Lead by the band of Thassalians through the treacherous waters, the fleet seized control of the four isles, including the 'Treasury Isle' capital city. After diplomatic discussions were had, on the subject of the apparent rogue members of the kingdom, the small kingdom was made debtors to the Kingdom of Remedii at the price of 2000 gold pieces, or 200 gold bars every year on the anniversary of the attack on the Keep.
On account of the flames surrounding the Keep from Hellfire shots from the vessels, and the burning of the nineteen vessels, the incident became known as the Nights of Burning Gold, which are now celebrated as a remembrance of the soldiers of the Keep, and the brave Thassalian heroes.
