The Watcher

The Watcher is a name given to one of the larger rocky outcrops that are a feature of the Whispering Hills in Maertheryan    In this area of the hills, where the trees have thinned slightly and are not as vast as their lowland counterparts the Watcher rises above the tree canopy to a height of almost 100'.   All of the outcrops are unusual in that there is not apparent reason for their formation, they appear certainly to be of a very different rock type to the rest of the surrounding area. This difficult to explain existence and the fact that some of the outcrops are said to resemble animals and humanoid figures have lead to the legends these are the petrified remains of long vanquished monsters.   The Watcher resembles a giant humanoid from some angles, even to the extent that it appears to be shielding its eyes from the sun and gazing out across the tops of the trees.
