Session 15 - Aligning the Mirrors

General Summary

We work out how to align the mirrors so that the light from both spheres hits the door. As it does so, it opens again behind us, showing the corridor that we entered the room from, and a secret compartment. In the compartment we find the fourth engraved, brass coin and the fourth tablet to add to those that we have found to date. In the room of mirrors the gems continue to glow brightly, as if their purpose is not yet complete, so we pick them up and take them with us. After a brief inspection we can see that transposing the characters on the tablet is not sufficient to understand the content. We need the translation machine to be able to make any sense of all the tablets. We know that the machine has a place for the tablet above which there is a viewing device, and that there is space for three coins on the frame of the machine. However, at the moment, we do not know where the machine is, or where the glass sheet is. The brass coins have arrows at the points of the compass and under Galen’s moon, one of the arrows is a double arrow, which we assume is North. The strokes and words on the back of the tablets may indicate which coin to use and the orientation of the coin.
The other mystery is the stone building on the island within a lake, that is surrounded by a forest. The forest was deciduous but that could be anywhere.
We show the tablet and brass coin to Jotun who is amazed at seeing them as he has heard of the The Oharith legend. Now that we have found them, he believes his work here is done and he wants to go and find his sister. Looking in the mirror we can see that Sirenna Caryn is still in her cell, but we have no idea where she is. She could be anywhere in a circle with a radius of the distance between Gulumi and Sunom. Although we thought we heard a guttural language from the mirror at the start there are no sounds from the mirror now.
After some discussion we decide to head to the coast from Gulumi , get a ship to Sunom , and then head to the island location, as shown on the piece of vellum that Ecaeris gave us.
