Encryption Device of Sazmok
Background
This document, or rather the few pages that survive from what may have been a larger publication, provide details of an encryption/decryption machine constructed by engineers and shaman's from Sazmok's court.Requirement
- An requirement outline indicates the need to encrypt Tasyo text into an indecipherable form to ensure the exact contents of the original text remain hidden unless decrypted by the device itself
- Only one such device should be built
- It should draw on both mechanical and magical elements to ensure the greatest level of encryption
- The device and it's workings should be capable of being divided to further frustrate attempts at decryption
- Instructions exist for the distribution of components to secret locations, those locations to be determined separately by different accountable groups of individuals
- Item to be constructed from Ekrum
Machine Design
- From the description and remaining diagrams the machine appears to be desk sized. Measuring approximately 1.2m by .6m
- A frame allows panels of inscribed text measuring approximately 30cm x 20cm to be held in place under a sheet of crystal
- To the left of the frame three round insets allow for the insertion of coding wheels whose elaborate pattern on the underside depress a series of pins according to their orientation
- No indication is given as to how the orientation of the coding wheels is to be determined though four possible positions are indicated
- Through a means not documented the positioning of the wheels causes the crystal sheet to flex and refocus the image into something legible
Location
- Nothing is recorded about the initial and subsequent location of the device
