Aftermath of Ylistre War

Only two years after the Ylistre War Elliaster was becoming unrecognizable. Many a bright-minded commoner flocked to the opportunity of creating magical machinery to present to the court. A new guild of inventors was formed in Belcastel, and the duchy had ascended into unprecedented wealth. Had it not been for the historical and religious significance of the capital, Dedrik would have surely moved the kingly seat to his birth land.   Commerce had been expanded incessantly, and the restricted traders from the easterm deserts were now a common sight among eastern Elliaster. Trading towns across both sides of the mountains were easily navigable due to the flying contraptions, and these grew in prominence as time went by. The Molierre guilds desperately tried to hold on to their power by setting their own trade houses along the rivers and mountains but they did so with little resources and a tad too late. Afterall, the threat of Kernaros was still looming and the region was almost defacto theirs - something Dedrik’s opponents often brought to their discourse. Why had the new King, despite his power and wealth, let this incursion go on for so long? Many thought he had done so out of an unspoken agreement with the northern savages, and others assumed it was so the Molierre tradesmen would eventually collapse, leaving Dedrik with control of most of the trade.   The animosity between the Sovarix and Bargarix has become more pronounced as Dedrik has proven himself to lean towards the secular despite his soothsaying. He does nothing to stop heresy nor fund the Orthopraxy. The common folk have begun to be more upfront about their magic-use, which has led to multiple clashes with the bishops of each city as they feel more emboldened by Dedrik's leniency.   In the northeast, the situation has become more dire. The Kagoati king of Kernaros has bolstered defenses in Molierre and quietly begun to spirit away Elliasterans, particularly those vocal of their praise to Ambar. Molisse had the worst of it, with the most influential traders being sent away to the north to suffer Ambar knows what, and the city left to its own devices. Montiga has been defended by the inventions of Mignote, but the northerners have also left it largely intact.   The incursion of Kernaros continued ever westward with only the Duke of Wrisrivaria able to stop them (a fact that has made them win much popular approval). The initial fanfare and happiness after Dedrik was crowned King of Elliaster lessened and it seemed to some that he was beginning to lose control of the situation. Kernaros began pushing further into Belcastel, and though Dedrik promised his advisors that it would never become too bad, it seemed the Kagoati had other plans.
