Vertelken

"We Rose up from the ashes. Despite the Argonites having burnt everything to the ground, leaving everyone in ashes and our beautiful city ruined, we still rose up. Everyone did, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, colour or language. We rose up for mankind. And we reclaimed this city. Just for the sake of humanity"   A local of Vertelken, talking about how the city was burnt to the ground and yet rose up from the ashes after it was reconquered by mankind from the argonites
Vertelken was perahps one of the most beautiful cities in the entire Imperium. With the continents largest port, as well as perhaps being the most diverse city on the entire planet, Vertelken was a true jewel of the Imperium. People from all across the Imperium could be found here, from the tall and broad shouldered Netholians to the short yet stout natives of the Varadian delta and everyone in between and beyond. The city was the capital as well as most populated city of Lower Netholia, as well as being the most populated city in Netholia overall. Its beautiful and gigantic port allowed it to trade with places as far as the ashfall islands, deep in the northern parts of the planet   It was also renowned for its fishing industry, being one of the main producers of fish in the continent. To this end, the city authorities invested heavily in fishing and aquatic infrastructure so as to diversify its economy. The delta on which it lay had some incredibly unique lifeforms which were served as delicacies across the Imperium. The city was also known for its acid and steel industry and it was here that Vertelian acid was first discovered, which was strong enough to melt many ores and thus uncover a plethora of different elements   The city was alas, burnt to the ground when the Argonites came with their armies. They had brought in not one but two dragons and together, they quickly burnt the city to the ground. Almost nothing remained, and even its beautiful port was gone, reduced to ashes   Yet the city did not gave up. The Argonites built it back to an extent and incorporated some of their own architecture. Decades later, the city would be retaken by humanity and from then on, it arose again to become one of the most beautiful cities of the Imperium
