Eb̧äik

Natively known as: eb̧äik /ˈɘʘɑ̽ɨ̯ǂ/ This language is primarily spoken in the desert west of the Irato Taleon. This region of the Ratomae continent is mostly desert with occasional oasis. Most of the communities in this region are isolated from the rest of the world, do not belong to any one nation, and hold deep relational beliefs.   There is some technology used by Eb̧äik people, but most of that technology is based on communication, food storage, and transport. The clans here are mostly migratory, never staying in one place for more than a few seasons. This is to keep up with the migrations of the reptilian-like creatures they hunt, and also to locate water sources.   Most clans tend toward a matriarchal structure and utilize horizontal democratic governing, where the group comes to a consensus that benefits the majority. Those that disagree are given space to air grievances. The grievances are then solved to the best of the ability of the group, or if no consensus can be reached for how to deal with the grievance, the person who submitted the grievance must either adapt or be encouraged to leave the clan. If a person commits murder, abuse, or assault, they will be placed into a rehabilitation, and if this fails to reform them, they are exiled from the clan.   Rehabilitation is a form of restorative justice, where the person who harmed must go through a reconciliation process to admit to the harm, perform actions for the community to serve out the sentence of their rehabilitation, and go through retraining with elders. If the person commits a similar crime after this process, that is when the formal exile process is initiated.   Justice, relationships, consensus, consent, and bodily autonomy are very important to the Eb̧äik People. They view the planet as a living being, and the various non-human creatures, fungi and plants as living beings with spirits. The land itself is viewed as a living being with spirits, and thus a person needs to be in right relationship with all these relations. If one is not in right relationship, one must work through restorative justice to restore oneself to right relationship. This helps the clans survive the harsh landscape and keep their people thriving.   Eb̧äik People do engage in trade, mostly for technology, with other nations outside of their isolated communities. They offer minerals, art, and their unique weaves in exchange for technology.
