Bloodfang Hunter
"Do not take your eyes off your sheep. Do not take your eyes off your horses. Look away and your livelihood will disappear into the grinning maws of these scaled devils. Walk your fields with your best boar spear in hand and never hesitate. Their hides are tough and their reach is long; claws sharp and thirsting for your blood."Bloodfang Hunters were the bane of everyone's existences in the lands that stretch from Thím Gûthuwal down to the southern shores of the continent of Aegéfaer. They were at the top of the food chain in the years before the lands were known as the Independant Landgraviates, and regularily took children and devoured livestock and pets. Palisades couldn't keep them out as their wicked claws allowed them to climb the sturdy wooden poles. The hides of these beasts were and still are considered to be as thick as or even thicker than boar hide, so it was recommended that everyone should carry a boar spear if planning to leave a fortified place.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Bloodfang Hunter was one of, if not the largest and heaviest of all raptor-like creatures—matched only by the Hunter's descendants: the The Domesticated Raptor. It's maximum size was considered to be as much as 7.5 meters (24.61 feet) in length and it weighed around 500 kg (1,100 lbs)—similar to what polar bears weigh.
While microraptors have feathers which make them look like chickens with teeth, the Bloodfang Hunter sported no feathers whatsoever.
Dietary Needs and Habits
This creature was an obligate carnivore. It gained all its sustinance from the meat it consumeed and only chewed on grass when suffering from stomach upset, like a cat.
It was extremely territorial when it came to food. It was recomended to not approach a feeding Hunter.
Behaviour
The Bloodfang Hunter was extremely cunning and often enjoyed stalking and hunting creatures they deemed more intelligent than they were. They took joy in causing stress in their prey and elven scientists speculate that this somehow enhanced the flavour of the prey's flesh.
