Material Characteristics
Luminous Crystals are transparent coming in many colors. In a raw form they are rough and jagged in very cubical way. Processed Luminous Crystals are smooth and shaped into either ovals or cubes. A single color is the most common form they are found in but they also come in a rainbow color that is much more rare. The colors from most to least common are; white, grey, pink, orange, blue, red, green, purple, black, rainbow.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Luminous Crystals are slightly warm to the touch, like they are warmed by the sun. The property they are most sought after for is the glow they give off. They can be used as a night light or when held or worn they give the glow to the wearer. Luminous Crystals are also able to amplify magic that is being used when held. In a rare occasion there have been some found that appear to have more than just a glow but also an aura for healing and warding against negativity.

Luminous Crystals can be used in various spells or magical practices. Often are used for protection wards or bottles.
Geology & Geography
It is found in Faerystone deep in the caves. Some of the more common colors are closer to the surface but rarer colors are deeper in.
Origin & Source
Luminous Crystals are the physical manifestation of the country's/realm's magic. It does not harm the land to take them but some people believe that the crystals should find their way to you not you seek them out.
Life & Expiration
As long as it is regularly left in the sun or moon light it retains the properties for which it is known for.
History & Usage
History
It was once used to trade with the other countries/realms. Now it is a very prized material of Faerystone. The use has changed through the years though. It was once used for the glow given but now it is more common to be used for the amplifying properties and be abused for the extra magic without being properly cared for.
Everyday use
Common use is as a might light source and a light magical amplifier.

Many powerful people use these crystals to appear more powerful and give an aura to themselves.

Luminous Crystals can be used in a more industrial use by people who make and sell magical items.

The found state is usable and no different than a refined state. The refined state is mostly just shaping and polishing the crystal

Luminous Crystals are sold in amulets and spell in a jars for many things such as a protection, luck, and fertility.
Byproducts & Sideproducts
The dust from refinement and polishing is left over and can be used as a spell component, so is often sold in pinky sized vials
Environmental Impact
The environmental impact is mostly from the people being in nature and not properly disposing of stuff they bring.
Reusability & Recycling
It is forever reusable as long as it's properly cared for. Even when not cared for you can 'repair' the crystals and bring them back to life. If they are not 'repaired' they are still used as a pretty thing for decoration.

Trade & Market
Most magical shops carry some most often the common to uncommon varieties. It is a staple to own for most households and a common housewarming gift. For the rarer varieties it is easier to reach out directly to the company that collects them and be put on a list for when the one you want is found.

It is frowned upon to use is to increase your political standing but it is known that it happens.
