Dogstown, KS

Demographics

Approximately 9,800 people occupy Dogstown. The locale has definitely seen better days.   With regard to supernatural presence, there are an estimated 75 werewolves in Dogstown, around 60 vampiric-clade entities, and 50 assorted other supernatural entities, including Beast Kin, Houndweres, and Coyotl.

Government

Elected Mayor, school board elected every five years, sheriff elected.   Local werewolf packs decide leadership by combat in most cases.   Vampire-kind have no formal organization.

Infrastructure

Dogstown, for all of its flaws, has a well cared for sewer system.   Water lines are unsuited for human consumption during the thawing months of March and April every few years or so.   Creek Crossing has a pool and a courtyard that is highly organized, including topiary and a minimum-wage maintained hedge maze.

Districts

Creek Crossing - A "ritzy" side of town, where the money-babies and real estate barons and metal-kings live in houses that look cobbled together, McMansions styled in the epitome of bad taste.   Warehouse Row - The biggest sign of what Dogstown once had; old abandoned warehouses sit with gaping wound-windows and strewn metal. How many bodies are hidden in the walls? How many people have been brutalized where the streetlights don't reach? The apartment complexes here are cheap, and allow pets. They're surprisingly crime-free.   Shopping Strip/The Strip - The Strip carries down the main street of Dogstown. Flanking either side of Center Street, The Strip contains two coffee shops, one cupcake bakery, a diner called Jimmy Bob's, a small antique shop, two dentist's offices, the local library, and many other commodities which the Dogstown population relies on. While businesses operate elsewhere in the town, The Strip is where all the "high end" (for Dogstown) businesses are. Kepler Realty, a group of interest, has its main office on The Strip.

Guilds and Factions

CHS (Cryptid Hunter Society)   A group of young adults and teens who investigate the rumors of anomalies and creatures throughout Dogstown. They can get in over their head from time to time but they've not lost anyone yet! They're happy with their work, and the over-21s get to drink for free from Sparky's Place, which is an added bonus.   DTPD (Dogstown Police Department)   Corrupt. Messy. The DTPD is full of those who take advantage of their position in the town with abandon. The Chief of Police, Sandra Talbot, locks down any discussion of corruption in the city. The DTPD is more concerned with enforcing the whims of particular interests than actual police work.   Kepler Realty -   A real estate office (and associates) which specializes in flipping houses where anomalous attacks took place. Buy low, sell high.   Ford Street Pack -   Werewolves who have claimed Ford Street as their own land. The Ford Street pack is fairly insular and stays out of the way of everyone else, mostly due to a sense of survival and the desire to be left alone. Their leader survived several attacks by hunters while he grew up, which has made him incredibly cautious.   Thunder's Children -   Cultists led by Hawk, who operste out of an abandoned airline warehouse.
(it is a slaughterhouse. don't let the signage fool you.)
Maskrats -
There is nothing in the sewer, nothing waiting in the dark shadows, nothing looking through the eyes of rats.
