The Keepers of Silence
Deep in the heart of The Scar, nothing lives. Yet fools cross into the dead zone to prove their bravery. The lucky ones see nothing, the unlucky ones do not come back alive. The secrets hidden in the grit are protected by the Keepers of Silence.
Structure
The keepers of silence are led by The Speaker, who communicates with the spirits roaming The Heart of The Scar. Their duty is to relay the messages passed to them by the apparitions and pass them on to the rest of the followers. They also teach the young everything from their language, their faith, and their roles. Those chosen by The Speaker become Voices, acolytes who further serve the cult and eventually may be selected to become Speaker.
The Great Hunter tends to the cult at large to resolve disputes, lead hunts, and provide for the cult's physical needs. The Great Hunter is the one who executes the will of the spirits and takes responsibility should they fail.
Hunters assist the Great Hunter and are half of the main bulk of the cult. They provide protection, food, and muscle for the cult.
Builders compose the other half of the cult. They are responsible for all things crafted and created within the cult, anything from cooking, to weaponry, to lodging and transport, to education materials for the young.
At the bottom of the structure are the Blessed Ones. They are born Feral in mind and body, resembling more a large horse-sized lizard than a Kobold. They are considered a gift from the Great Spirit, something stronger and more adept to the land to aid the survival of their people.
Culture
The Keepers of Silence are simultaneously a cult and nomadic tribe. They follow the apparitions within the Heart of the Scar, commune with them, and enact their will. Those who are graced with the presence of the spirits are hailed as near divine, giving them pick of food and mates.
Public Agenda
They believe the Heart of the Scar is sacred land and protect it ferociously, eliminating any outsider who sees the spirits or ruins within. Their soul duty is to protect the spirits and their dwelling no matter the cost.

Divine Origins
The Keepers of Silence are believed to have originated from within the Heart of the Scar itself. Their ancestors are said to have emerged from the ruins within, unaffected by the dead mana around them. From these ruins, they learned their language and core teachings. They first communed with the spirits at the husk of the Great Tree, and learned of their duties from the Greatest Spirit there.
