Birth of Gods, Creation of the Multiverse
It is said at first there was nothing but an empty black void and an ever shrinking spherical egg. With a violent bang, the egg burst open, flinging matter through the empty space. At the center of the explosion, one singular being was born, a being of burning light and energy. Slowly that being came to their senses and watched the scattered remains of their prison drift ever outward. The being was in awe of the debris, entertained by shooting stars and streaks of dust painted across the void somewhere in the distance. Flickering motes of light dazzled and sparkled, a promise of ever distant exploration for the being. As the being watched, their consciousness grew, and their identity was known. Omneaus, The Everything, was born. With this identity came something else... loneliness.
Seeking the company of others, Omneaus set out into the vast nothing, seeking another consciousness, another to share it with. They found nothing but a beautiful endless sea. To cope with their loneliness, Omneaus began to interact with their surroundings. With each element they touched, they felt a resonation deep within them. Soon after, they began to play with each, learning that they could manipulate the remains of their once prison. And so Omneaus created some of the first worlds and solar systems with various combinations of each element. But that could only stave off loneliness for so long.
An idea crossed their mind, thinking back to the resonation within as they worked with each element. They seized that feeling, each individual feeling within themselves with the touch of each element, held on to that resonation and with a great gasp Omneaus' body shattered into fragments and light and was no more. Four smaller beings of the same energy remained where one once stood. Flickering in hues of browns and golds, mottled with flecks of metal and stone, the being resonating with Earth called himself Atlor. Burning red with flame, cycling through the colors of burning flame and dying embers, the being who shone like a fiery sun called herself Ifira. Pulsating pale green with flecks drifting through the core the colors of autum leaves and drifting snow, the being who drifted with the winds called himself Hecatl. Shimmering in hues of blue and green, flecked and spotted with the shimmering rainbows of light passing through water, the being who calls to water named herself La'Lorana.
The four took some time to discover themselves and their powers. With Omneaus' worlds still present, they eventually began to mimic their predecessor's work. For a time after, they were content to explore their surroundings, re-experiencing the wonder of their celestial home. During this exploration, Hecatl, prone to wandering on his own, found an oddity within the void. A hole within the fabric of space, drawing stars and celestial bodies into it's core.
His curiosity proved to be dangerous, for Hecatl drew too close to it. He was drawn in by the gravitational pull. Even a being of light and energy could not escape that pull. He was trapped until he came out the other side. To a timeless being, this was irrelevant, nothing more than a thrill ride. And on the other side lay the same celestial scape, yet so different. Devoid of the bodies created by Omneaus and the Quartet, Hecatl roamed this blank canvas with wonder and excitement. Soon, at the far reaches, he found another black hole. Universe after universe, he found the different celestial scapes. Exciting endless possibilities existed in each one.
Hecatl rejoined his brother and sisters eventually and regaled them with the tales of his adventure. Intrigued, his siblings joined his next foray through the black hole. With reckless abandon, universe after universe visited and populated with their works. Planets and moons were created to fill the voids, their wonderful art. The black holes were not a constant in each universe, closing or opening in different places leading to different universes. Working together, the quartet learned how to open these holes on their own, leading to where they desired to go, once they had already been there.
For the most part, they continued to wander, going where the celestial winds took them, sometimes together, sometimes apart. It was during a trip together that they were randomly spit out in their original universe. [top]
Four Becomes Nine
Alone for eons in the absence of the quartet, the worlds created by Omneaus were the first to change. Each planet faced natural affects, but some were the right distance and had the right conditions to flourish. Remnants of Omneaus resonated strong through the universes, potential burning bright in the skies. Single celled organisms developed in the primordial conditions. With life, so came death and the concept of time. With each rotation of these worlds, each revolution, the concept became stronger. Single celled organisms became more complex, flourishing in the worlds oceans or breaking through their liquid barriers to reach for the full light of the sun. Floral life sprouted across the surfaces, and with it came their predatory Fauna crawling from the seas. The Fifth born, Salvas, was the next of the celestial beings to manifest, shimmering in a mix of gold and silver light, flecked with motes of burning white and purest black, they were the one cursed with the power of time and all it encompassed.
Time became a concept when the worlds began their rotations and revolutions, firmly placing the second quartet's birth after Salvas', even if only shortly after. Born of Wind and Fire, Vertex, He of the storms, took form unlike his elder siblings. Vertex took the form of a deep gray manta ray with the wings of an eagle and the long sinuous tail of a sea snake. Jagged lines of purple and white streak across his body in shifting patterns. Born of wind and water, Sela, She of Ice, took the agile delicate form of a pure white fox with nine tails and fur as soft as fresh fallen snow. Born of water and earth, Terra, Mother of the Forest took the form of a human woman, with hair made of all the leaves and vines in the world. Born of Fire and Earth, Father of worlds and stars, Pela took the form of a long sinuous eight legged salamander with scales as black as coal etched with patterns burning like molten earth and metal. The new quartet knew nothing of the celestial heavens or their siblings. Occasionally, they fought like children, but found a balance, tending their world with utmost care. Until one day, their elder siblings returned.
