Agrippina Matilda Louise von Hirschwald
Agrippina’s tale unfolds with a mix of tragedy, resilience, and the machinations of power-hungry figures. Born on the 30th of Hay in 1137 alongside her twin brother Johannes, Agrippina was part of the noble von Hirschwald family, whose lands were rich with forests, rugged mountains, and wide rivers. The barony, characterized by its temperate climate and tin mines, fostered a childhood steeped in natural beauty, albeit shadowed by simmering family tensions. Her uncle Reinhardt's jealousy toward her parents was an ominous undercurrent, culminating in devastating consequences.
The family’s fate took a dark turn with the Grain War of 1147, spurred by promises of land and glory for participating nobles. Agrippina’s grandfather, Konrad, led a contingent of soldiers but soon found himself conflicted over the morality of the conflict. His doubts sealed his fate, as the Thorn Cabal orchestrated his death through an “ammunition accident” that also claimed Agrippina’s father. The tragedy opened the door for Reinhardt to seize power, and with secret orders from the Cabal, he plotted the elimination of Octavia, Agrippina, and Johannes.
The night of 12th Harvest 1147 marked the family’s brutal betrayal. Reinhardt’s cruelty reached new depths when he condemned Agrippina to the custody of Earl Edmund Greyson of Ashbourne, falsely assuming that the Earl would abuse her. Instead, she was met with scorn and was nearly executed until Gilbert, the Earl’s son, intervened out of compassion. Gilbert, demisexual and moved by a sense of moral duty rather than romantic desire, requested to protect Agrippina. Despite initial resistance, Edmund allowed it under the watch of the sadistic Theresa Teufelsherz, a formidable fencer with infernal ties, and her devils.
The years between 1147 and 1149 were harrowing for Agrippina as she and Gilbert lived under constant surveillance. Gilbert’s influence eventually allowed them to move to Ravenscourt Hall, where they cautiously plotted to expose Edmund’s villainy. However, their plans bore little fruit until Agrippina received a message from her cousin Magdalena on 23rd Blossom 1149. Her response spurred a daring rescue attempt by the heroes of the campaign.
The clash at Ravenscourt Hall was fierce. Thalion’s arrows, Ragnar’s rage-fueled strikes, and Wankel’s divine healing clashed against the deadly precision of Theresa Teufelsherz and the summoned Vordine devils. The battle reached its climax when Ragnar, after a brutal struggle, struck down Theresa, freeing the hall from her cruel dominion. The human guards, despite their orders to kill Agrippina and the servants, instead rallied around her and Gilbert, choosing loyalty to the pair over blind obedience.
With the rescue successful, Gilbert’s plan to reveal the truth at the upcoming Imperial Diet offered a glimmer of hope. The heroes agreed, and together they embarked on a journey down the Buchenau River toward Schobertal, where a teleportation circle awaited to transport them to Averhaven. There, in the halls of the Imperial Capital, they hoped to uncover the dark web woven by the Thorn Cabal and ignite change.
This saga is not just one of personal survival but a testament to the hidden alliances and unyielding spirits fighting against the shadow of tyranny within the Empire.
