Gregor Dynasty

The Gregor Dynasty is a large Dynasty spanning all of Gregor, and led by the Gregor family. They are considered Iron-willed, but respected. The Dynasty is a wealthy and vast area of tamed wilderness. Known for the bright blue crystals and beautiful pink flora that dominate the Quori Range, and the towering, deep-green forest trees of the Colossal Wilds that make Giant's look small. The land is one of beautiful and diverse cities, flush with custom, all surrounded by deadly wildlife and a feral, natural environment. Out of all the countries of Velaria, Gregor has both the richest and poorest, with a large gap between the two.   Gregor's cities and towns are very diverse with a mix of races, but outside of the towns there is very few camps or nomadic tribes. For example, instead of there being a Goblin camp near a town to constantly raid (which is common in other areas of Velaria), the few Goblins of Gregor have had to integrate into the civilization because it is much safer than trying to defend a shoddy Goblin camp from the exotic wildlife.   The Gregor Dynasty allows any and all kind of worship except those that are designed specifically to harm others. They do not have a province religion per se, but do have some set customs based around the Four Sacred Animals of the Gregor Mythology.
  • Sea Serpent - Dragons of the sea, fearsome and massive, common in the Jade sea.
  • Sabre-tooth tiger - protectors, noble, protects both good and bad, god of war
  • Phoenix - summer, fire, ruler of all birds
  • Auroch - cannot be eaten, sacred to the land - said to have been created as a mount for Gruumsh, who needed a stead as mighty as him. The Gregorians use these as fierce mounts, much like the Orcs of Vastrya.

Locations in the Gregor Dynasty

Quori Range The Quori Range is an expansive mountain range filled with beautiful colour. Geographically, it separates the Dynasty from the Vastryan Ocracy as a natural border. The Quori Range is unlike any other range in all of Elderforge due to the pink and turquoise colouration caused by two unique resources native to the Dynasty. Pink cherry blossom trees dominate many of the mountaintops, growing tall and lush with the beautiful bright leaves they are named after. The turquoise colour comes from the crystals forming all along the mountains, known as Taldine. Taldine is found in chunks ranging from the size a hand to the size of a house. The mineral grows out of the rough ground of the mountains like a weed, and makes travelling through the range very difficult, but more beautiful. The minerals are not useful for anything, other than conducting lightning, and drawing all major storms that would threaten the Colossal Wilds with fire caused from lightning strikes, to the mountain range instead.   The Colossal Wilds The Colossal Wilds take up the large, central area of the Gregor Dynasty, sitting at the base of the Quori Range. The Wilds were named after the gargantuan trees that make up the jungle, as all of the trees found within soar into the sky for an average of 50 meters (average height of trees in a traditional jungle is 25 meters). The wildlife within the Wilds have evolved in both size and power through living within, and mimic the size of the trees. Because of how the Wilds create a unique environment for wildlife, there are many exotic animals found exclusively within, both dangerous and beautiful. Travelling in and out of the Wilds can be arduous, and requires guards adept at navigating the wilderness and interacting with wildlife. Nestled within the centre of the Wilds is the capital city Jrusar, built vertically along the trees.   Runeless Valley Contrasting with the beauty and wonder of the Ranges and Wilderness found elsewhere in the Dynasty, the Runeless Valley is bleak and dead. It is an area of dry grass where ruins of small towns and villages can be found that at some point in the past, were consumed by the Empty Waters to the North.   Empty Waters Known as 'Katakura' to the locals, the large lake in the North of the Gregor Dynasty is shrouded in mystery and superstition. Full article - The Empty Waters.   The Jade Sea The Jade Sea is large and beautiful, revered by the people of the Gregor Dynasty and unique to them. The water of the Jade Sea is a bright Jade colour, from which the Sea gets its name, and massive chunks of Jade is strewn throughout the sea. The chunks of Jade can be the size of islands and is beautifully pure Jade. These massive Jade chunks are sacred to the Gregorian people, as they feed life into the Sea they are found in, giving life to the unique aquatic animals here as well as the Sea Serpents, one of the four holy animals of the Dynasty.   Settlements The capital city of Gregor is Jrusar in the colossal wilds, with a vibrant city colour of deep orange, the colour of the Gregor family. The other city is Zibriat , located next to the Empty Waters (covered in orange runes of protection against the empty waters). Zibriat is a pristine city filled with some of the wealthiest people in all of Velaria. None of the lower classes are able to live here unless they are employed as various servants for the rich, unlike in Jrusar where many lower-class people live beneath the upper-class. This is because of the magical effect of the Empty Waters, and how runestones set up around buildings are required for protection against the lake during the night. The other settlements throughout the Dynasty are towns. Shigawa, Khotgor, Talonloft and Urasaki are the towns found within the Dynasty, and all contain vast plantations and well-fed livestock, creating very strong farming villages. Mansu Harbor is found on the continent of Belione, just across the Jade Sea.   Races Native to Gregor.

The Gregor Dynasty, although it has its fair share of discrimination and disparities, has very good relations between species. There is very little racism towards any of the races, and it is only more or less common to see specific races within the Dynasty due to historical migrations and times of settling.

Magic Administration

The Gregor Dynasty has a rich history, and they have experienced the catastrophic damage that the magic of Elderforge can do to a country. Because of this, they are extremely cautious of it, and have a strict licensing system in place to monitor it. Many within the Dynasty hate this administration, and feel that is oppressive, especially compared to the wonders of magic found elsewhere within Elderforge. Others, usually those without magic themselves, are grateful for this, and believe it does not stop people from using magic, but just makes sure that the people using it are properly trained. The Quandrix, the Guild of mages under the Gregor family and the mages of the Quandrix college in Jrusar, are the 'magic administrators' for the country. Once a year, Quandrix mages travel through the various towns and cities of Gregor to check for anyone with magical capabilities, and mark them. Those with the mark have two options, to attend the magical University and gain a magic license, or to repress their powers and never use it without repercussions. Due to the class divide, it is primarily the children of the rich who are able to attend the college and hone their magical skills, whereas the poor are forced to conceal it or use it in secret, avoiding the Quandrix and Wardens. People get into the Quandrix University through patrons, either their family or other people who pay good amounts of gold to get them in. This includes any kind of innate magic, most primarily found within sorcerors and wizards, but also includes people like barbarian's with magical ties to their ancestors, or an alchemist able to manipulate magic into potions. There are exceptions to the license, that of religion. If a child is found to have a magical connection to a deity, they can instead gain a license through their church or religious group. Again, this is within the civilized areas of the Gregor Dynasty, and many people throughout the countryside use magic without a license. Also, many within the cities use magic without a license, but avoid the eyes and ears of the Quandrix, and do it in secret.

Class Relations

Due to rural divide, there is a bad relationship between the rich and the poor, primarily in Jrusar. The capital city is almost entirely vertical, expanding upwards instead of outwards inside the Colossal Wilds. The rich purchase housing higher up, and the poor are forced to live in the lower sections. This segregation has caused a quiet feud between the groups that has festered for years, and there is a lot of discrimination from both sides throughout the city. Outside of Jrusar, the other city of the Gregor Dynasty, Zibriat. is a city exclusive to the wealthy. This is because of the environment there, and the magical lake that swallows people whole unless they have runes at night to protect themselves. This has resulted in the entire city belonging to those wealthy enough to have homes properly defended with maintained runes, and the people that those families employ. Throughout the other towns of Jrusar, there is little to no disparity. With the majority of the population being that of the working class or middle class, working alongside one another to live out in the countryside.

Agriculture & Industry

The Dynasty is mainly an agricultural power, with lush lands and abundant resources. They have large amounts of wood from the Colossal Wilds, and all livestock farms are ripe with stock, as long as they are defended well enough. As well as this, the surrounding land has good soil, and outer towns throughout the Dynasty have flourishing farms.

Trade & Transport

Very self-sufficient with trade routes on ground to the North and South of the Quori Range, to the neighbouring countries of Vastrya, Amaron and Elisium, then naval routes through the Jade Sea to the East, and the Extona Coast to the South.
