Jrusar (Drew-Saar)

The Capital city of the Gregor Dynasty, and home to the ruling Gregor family. A large city of roughly 20'000, with a smaller assortment of the very wealthy within the towers of the city, and the lower class making up the rest of the population lower areas. Has regions of extreme beauty and areas of filthy slums.   The rich here are not known to be cruel or oppressive, but are those that have worked hard to make a good living for themselves, then revel in the supremacy, and the poor are usually just happy to be within city walls, where there is mead and good company.   The city's colours are a deep orange, the traditional colour of the Gregor family. The city is surrounded by the lush green of the Colossal Wilds, and sits nestled at the base of the colourful Quori Range, a mountain range vibrant with pink cherry blossom trees and turquoise crystals.   The architecture of the city is very vertical, consisting of different layers as the denizens build upwards instead of outward into the Wilds. This is for the safety of the citizens, but has created a dynamic between the people that live on the ground and bases of trees, and the people that live high above, also known as the poor and the rich. Tiers of wooden plateaus run up the colossal trees, connected with ropes and gondolas. Darker ground surrounded by the constructed tiers makes up the lowest level, and is inhabited by the poorest of the city. The higher up you go, the more refined and beautiful the buildings get, with the Gregor's family house residing at the top.   Unlike in many towns, being an adventurer or hero is a real profession here, as everyone needs protection leaving the city walls including travellers, lumberjacks, miners, or even scholars wishing to learn about the mystical land around them.

Districts

There are 6 different districts in Jrusar, roughly separated in height, and appear in descending order below.
  • Gregor Spyre - A small district consisting of beautiful and large stone buildings all magically suspended along the treetops where the Gregor family and their most trusted friends.
  • Takata Row - A wealthy district of nobles and rich merchants that have done well in life, many retired. Business owners and retired adventurers live in this area, which is mostly made of large and beautiful wooden houses, many suspended magically.
  • The Windowed Wall - A vertical wall scaling the largest tree in the centre of Jrusar. Unique houses are built into the tree, carved out of the wood, and only the front protrudes out. Scaling stairs wrap around the tree, connecting to the different layers of houses.
  • The Evergrove - The district consisting of the majority of shops and business, adjacent to the Windowed Wall. Covered in the thick foliage and greenery that makes up the upper parts of the trees in the Colossal Wilds.
  • Crok Layer - A scaffolded district sitting above ground level, held up precariously with various mismatched bits of wood scrounged together by the residents. Living here can be quite dangerous, but the residents are adept at living balancing along branches and on swaying scaffold. Contains a mixture of buildings with various purposes.
  • The Underway - The only district within Jrusar built on the forest floor. Spreads wide but doesn't have many buildings - mainly just tents in the shade of trees.

Guilds and Factions

  • The Gregor Family - The most powerful and gifted of all of the Dynasty. They run the Dynasty and the whole family is considered royalty, with full reign of the city and its surroundings. Their family colour and thus the Dynasty's colour is a deep orange.
  • The Wardens - Ranger-Guardians that scale the vertical exterior of the city, protecting it from the dangerous wildlife. The Wardens wear full sets of green plate armor, but are still able to move through the forests unseen and unheard. The Wardens are both respected and feared, and are known to be powerful, as the death rate for initiate Wardens is very high, and the ones that come out of it are capable of fending off the extremely dangerous beasts of the Colossal Wilds.
  • Metal Hearts - As their name implies, the Metal Hearts are a technology focused group, handling everything from the architecture of Jrusar, to the maintenance of street lights. They have a grey metal coloring, and an assortment of strange trinkets in the same colour that show the different types of workers in the Metal Hearts.
  • Quandrix College - The Quandrix campus of the global Strixhaven University is in Jrusar. The professors hold much sway over any and all magic use within the city, and have special forces that administer magic throughout the entire Dynasty. Quandrix is the College of Numeromancy, a term that encompasses the study of patterns, fractals, and symmetries to wield power over the fundamental mathematics of nature.
  • Hollowthorn - A unique organization that is very new and relatively unknown. Some people say they are evil, and collect magical artifacts for power, others say they are there to topple the hierarchy of Jrusar, others don't even believe they exist.
  • Alistair Syndicate - Shady organization that isn't afraid of doing what needs to be done to keep the peace, no matter how dark it may be. Many citizens scared of them.
  • White Tigers - Represented by the white, sabre-tooth tigers revered by the Gregorian people. The faction is focused on protection for whoever needs it within the city, renting out hired muscle. Known to be used by the wealthiest and the poorest together, and are able to handle a wide variety of jobs. The Tigers are known as a good, and likeable faction, protecting people from harm and keeping peace within the city.
  • Xanathar Guild - Hunters for sport, taking on mythical beasts throughout the Wilds.
