Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Festivals are commonly held for Diktynna and Morartis due to the amount of hunting as well as mining that is done in the northern regions. Many also hold rituals to Yaniona during the winters in hope to keep their loved ones healthy and safe. Many also believe in life after death so warriors are buried with their weapons and workers with their tools. Some also bury their loved ones with lockets or reminders of family. Druids and bards are also frequently tied with religion this far north.   The biggest festival is held in early spring to celebrate the end of winter. It is called the Festival of Springs First Growths. It is a time to eat and be merry now that the harshest time of year is over. Many give thanks in prayer to various gods that may have aided them through the season. It is a common practice for lovers to set out first thing in the morning to find a wildflower for each other, not returning until they do. Some believe that if you both picked the same flower unplanned you will be blessed in the relationship. It is also common for lighter more flowing clothing to be worn this day to symbolize an easy going spring.

Common Myths and Legends

A long time ago there was tale told about a group of miners. One day the cave that they were working in seemed to run out of precious ore. Six of them decided to take a perilous journey into the mountains to find a new cave so they would be able to continue to supply ores and coal. Unbeknownst to them someone was watching them. Morartis the great blacksmith always had a soft spot for miners as they were essential to keeping his craft alive. One night during their journey when it was particularly cold he descended onto the mortal plane. As they slept the blacksmith quickly and quietly enchanted their pickaxes so until they returned from this journey safely they could never be exhausted or perish from the cold mountain climate. When the miners awoke and grabbed their pickaxes they no longer felt the bite of the cold as strongly and no longer felt weary. They were very thankfully for whoever blessed them to help them continue. After three months of searching caves they found it. It was a sight to behold ores of all types and sizes was inside this cave. It would later be called Seud Mine for all its precious materials inside. Many believed such a place was a gift from Morartis himself so in every batch of tools, weapons, or armor that was made one was crafted with extra design and detail to honor and thank the god.
