Nimueh Naïlo

Nimueh Naïlo

Backstory   225 years ago, Nimueh was born in a small, wood elf village, though she barely remembers it. When she was barely six years old, her village was attacked by a group of casters (allegedly). Monks from a nearby monastery came to the village's aid, but it was too late, by the time they arrived, the village was destroyed, with the adult inhabitants either slain, taken, or having run for their lives. The monks found Nimueh in the rubble of her home, hiding underneath her bed. They took her in and raised her as one of their own, telling her that her family had perished in the attack.   Nimueh's childhood in the monastery passed normally. She was educated and well looked after by some of the acolytes and their families. She developed a deep loyalty to the people who took her in and a deep dislike of the casters she was told destroyed her village.   As she grew older, Nimueh was trained in the ways of the monks and was encouraged to become and official member of their Order. Nimueh was highly dedicated to her work and quickly advanced beyond the more basic training and tasks of her peers, eventually joining the middling ranks of the monastic order. Joining the Way of Shadow, she became something of an agent for the Order. Initially, Nimueh was mostly assigned to reconnaissance missions and even assassinations against "enemies of the faith," her instructions for these missions came without context, and she spied, stole, and killed out of her utmost faith in the Order. She therefore still remained not entirely in the loop with exactly what the overarching goals of the Order were, however, she would soon find out. After many years as an operative, Nimueh was finally welcomed into the inner circle, provided that she complete one final mission. She was sent to kill a magical "enemy of the faith." Nimueh, eager to finally prove her worth to the Order, pursued her foe, and eventually caught up to her. She fought the hooded woman, and eventually knocked her prone. As Nimueh removed the hood from her face, she received a horrible shock. The woman beneath her was her mother.   In shock and horror, Nimueh let the woman go and fled. She did not return to the Order and couldn't return to the city, so she escaped to the woods, where she lived for a few months, trying to piece together anything she knew to try and explain seeing her mother, kidnapping unsuspecting people that wandered near the woods and interrogating them for information.   She eventually discovered that her community had been a safe haven for casters, and that it wasn't a group of casters that attacked them, but the Order themselves. Horrified by her life being a lie, Nimueh retreats deeper into the forest, wandering for months until she eventually stumbles upon The Capitol. At this point, she has come to the conclusion that she has been trained to be an agent of evil against a group of innocents. She is now desperate to find a way to atone for her sins and help those she had previously hunted.   State of Being Prior to the Start of the Campaign   At this point, Nimueh is experiencing both a crisis of faith and a crisis of self. Previously, Nimueh had been a devoted, ambitious, and ardent member of her order. She had been told that casters had decimated her village and that they were evil, and she genuinely believed that she was doing good.   After abruptly leaving the order, Nimueh was horrified and confused. She began to doubt what she knew and lived very chaotically in the forest, kidnapping anyone she found and becoming violently hot-tempered.   After burning herself out in this way, she felt the need to return to some form of order and normalcy, where she could hopefully do some real good. At this point, she is cautious and still recovering, but quietly determined to do good in order to begin to atone for her work in the Order.   In terms of her faith, though she has lost all faith in her monastery, she still has yet to let go of her service to Nemesis. She remains unsure as to her new place with her goddess. While previously she viewed all casters and "enemies of the faith" as deserving what they got, and was happy to enact vengeance in Nemesis's name. She is gradually beginning to interpret Nemesis in a different light. Instead, she will remain in service to her goddess by instead pursuing those who use the gods and goddesses names for twisted, selfish purposes.   Finally, concerning her family, at this point Nimueh is still unsure of what to do. She is not sure she truly wants to know the fate of her family (out of fear of getting her hopes up). She also worries that they would view her antagonistically. This has made her somewhat hesitant to seek them out.   Entering The Capitol/The APS   Nimueh up and left without a word. She grabbed only the things she needed, but left everything else. She was quite trusted when she left, so she is unclear what they believe happened to her.   The city she is from is not too close to The Capitol. She covered quite a lot of woods before she decided to finally head back to city life. So she is also unsure if worshippers of Nemesis in The Capitol would know about her at all. She will probably initially at least avoid them.   She is entering the city for a few reasons. 1. She wants to return to “normal” life 2. The Capitol is quite far away from her old city 3. She feels that in a big city she can blend in   She is willing to join the APS.   Family   Mother: Arianrhod (Ah-ree-AN-rod), wood elf (560 years old), formerly presumed dead   Father: Llefelys (Luh-FEL-ys), wood elf (540 years old), presumed dead   Older sister: Marared (MAH-rah-red), wood elf (250 years old), presumed dead   Younger sister: Senana (Sen-YAH-nah), wood elf (220 years old), presumed dead   Other younger siblings/half-siblings: ???   Maternal Aunt: Rhiannon, wood elf (590 years old), presumed dead   Cousins: ???   Husband (separated): Artagnan (Ar-TAN-yan), high elf (175 years old), Order member, now deceased (killed by Nimueh)   Ex-lover: Leavold (LEE-ah-vold) (broken up), human, died at age 85 (died 45 years ago), former citizen of Volfast   Ex-lover: Maslyn, (MASS-lin) (broken up), drow (260 years old currently), a traveler and adventurer escaped from the Underdark   Ex-lover Ismé (IHS-may) (broken up), human, died age 70 (died 130 years ago), former citizen of Volfast   Child with Leavold: Anceline (OHN-sell-een)., half-elf.
