Oaksfield

The Village

Oaksfield is one of the vital locations established after the establishment of Fenfield when the danger posed by the hobgoblins was already known. What started as a logging camp, became a village as well as a small fort recognized for the difficult to siege environment. Oaksfield produced the majority of lumber needed for the initial expansion, as well as the best quality wood that was used for a group of warbows used against the goblinoids. It’s said that a regiment equipped with those bows could easily outrange the enemy and keep their distance. Supposedly the wood the bows were made from contains magic. The surrounding forests are a great place for many wild and rare herbs that can’t be grown on fields, as well as other distinct products foraged. The village is known for its unusual cuisine and the goods, while not expensive, are so rare that it’s hard to obtain any.

Logging

Despite great efforts to cut as many trees as possible from the area to obtain valuable resources, such a task is near impossible. Local legends speak of the woods being alive in more ways than simply wildlife. Exploration did not bring the secret of the forest to live, but nonetheless the people enjoy the bounty of a seemingly inexhaustible source of wood.

Legend

A notable figure as well as local legend is Zack Lichter, a lumberjack that one day walked out of the woods with a thick piece of unusual wood that was crafted into a bow. He took it and joined the army, to protect him homeland. It’s said that in his hand, the bow cast great power, turning the plants in the battlefield into his allies and thrusting arrows made out of thorns. After years, he died heroically and no one else was able to wield the bow’s power. Now it’s resting in his family house in Oaksfield as a keepsake. Some say the spirit of a dryad resides in the bow, and was the source of the power.
