Personal history

In ancient times, an order of knights dedicated to Zelseris were tasked by the Church of the Night Sky to defend a fortress from a torrential horde of monsters unleashed by Mryn'quotam. Leading them was the mortal Hondro, the stalwart captain of the order. When seeking divinations on how best to approach the battle, he learned that all the knights in the fight would perish but claim victory if every knight in the order participated. As a virtuous and honorable man, he informed the entire order of the prophecy and offered them all the chance to not participate, declaring that he would go regardless of who came with him. After one knight stated that he would never go on a suicidal quest, the rest of the knights decided that it was pointless to throw their lives away.   True to his word, Hondro was the only member of his order to go to the fortress. He rallied the soldiers there, informing them of his certain demise but managing to keep moral high by asserting that, with the correct tactics and defenses, he would be the only death and victory was still achievable. To assure he would have enough men, Hondro liquefied every last asset he had to afford all the supplies and fortifications the fortress needed to withstand the assault. Awed by his resolve, the soldiers placed their trust in his certainty.   On the day the horde came, Hondro and the soldiers were fully prepared against all manner of creatures. From the burrowing horrors to the flying menaces to the titanic beasts, everything that came to the fortress was shot down, hacked to pieces, or smashed by the men present. No less than half of the creatures were slain by Hondro, his legendary longbow skills taking care of both airborne and terrestrial threats alike. The battle raged in full intensity for a full day, yet not a single soldier died until Hondro threw himself in front of a young solder about to have his head impaled by a purple worm's stinger. Though Hondro survived being ran through, the poison ensured a debilitating death. However, Hondro lived to see the end of the onslaught, and though some men were severely injured, not a single man under his command died. All men who were able to gathered around Hondro as he congratulated them on a victory well earned before his heart became too weak to beat.   Following his foretold demise, Hondro was hailed as more than a mere hero. He was exalted by all who were present at the battle that day as "the First and Last Knight to fall." His brilliant skill for tactics, defense, and archery along with his sacrifice of money, legacy, and life made him into an iconic model for every aspiring knight. After years of receiving widespread veneration, Hondro was confirmed as a new deity when a young paladin found that he could draw divine power from his admiration of the Last Knight. A church was formed around him, and from there his ideals were formulated.
