Factions and Movements in Caramiza

The nation of Caramiza is by no means uniform in political, religious, economical, or scientific views. There are multiple factions, movements, and belief-systems that have completely different views and goals concerning the state and development of Caramiza itself. In many cases, you would find strong defenders of completely opposing views in any matter.

Author's notes:

These factions are usually not organized groups and only represent a way of viewing the world and having common goals. As such, I decided to create them as ethnicities instead of organizations within World Anvil.   Even though a typical character in this world can (and will) have affiliations and sympathy for multiple factions. It is entirely possible and industrialist supports the regent and is a vehement believer of the superiority of magically based science of the power of faith.

Social Status

Although there are no strict social castes in Caramiza, a person's social background, income, and education do influence their general view and positions. Currently, the difference between these groups is widening, making it more difficult for people of poorer social groups to break out of their group.

Highly Educated People

There are multiple ways to get a good education in Caramiza. If you don't simply go through an apprenticeship but have the possibility and acces to enough wealthto study either in one of the academies or one of the religious seminars, you will experience a level of education vastly different from the more practivally oriented crafts. These people are used to and enjoy intellectual discourse and often demand a well founded argument from their peers. Their stances within political or religious discussions often starts out very extreme but is open to well founded compromise.

Wealthy High Society

Growing up or living with enough money and other wealth that you do not even have to consider working to survive, changes your view on the challenges of everyday life. The wealthy elite often enjoys discussions far from the reality of normal life and spend a lot of time honing their contacts and projecting a perfected image of themselves to the outside world.   The goal of the wealthy is to preserve their wealth, status and image to the world. To this end, they often actively distance themelves from poorer circles. Notable exceptions exists of course

Royal Court and Council

Life at court is different then in the world outside. Here, people are hyper aware of their images and the many rumors and intrigues that are constantly being spun, in order to gain a bit more influence and power. The Council and their affiliates may be less glamorous, but just as prone to intrigue as the noble men at court. Having offspring is often viewed moe as a political instrument than as family.   Their goal is to preserve their status but also to get their requests heard at the right places. Often they are patron of a specific company or are representing the needs of their home region.

Craftsmen and merchants

With a solid education in their craft or good experience in their trade, both the craftsmen and the merchants have needs and goals very close to their daily life. They worry about the taxes, the safety of their lifelyhood and the future of their families.

Common people

Most people do not have aspecial education or inherited the trade from their family. They life day by day and do odd jobs for unskilled labor. In rural areas, they often work as farmhands and have a hard working but content life. In the growing cities, these people are constantly in danger of losing their livelyhood or being exploited by people richer then them. But what could they possibly do?

Military

Caramiza has a large standing millitary and the soldiers are well trained and have a basic education. Most of them value the structure and order in life, the millitary provides them as well as a strong authority and reverence the people meet them with.   Most soldiers, bot common soldiers as well as the officers are conservative in the regard of preserving the srength of the military and properly demonstrating power towards outside threats as well as internal insurgencies.
