Vampire

A form of immortality created by the Dragon God-Kings wherein the indivdiual transforms into an undead being that feeds on the blood of the living. The individual can no longer walk in sunlight and many ancient folk methods are rumored to weaken them, but the vampires can live for thousands of years so long as they have a steady supply of blood.

Causes

Scholars of the Dragon God-Kings have confirmed that the curse of vampirism was created by one of the ancient dragons, but the one responsible has been much debated. Some experts claim the black dragon Melusine created the condition to punish some of her faithless acolytes, others theorize it was created by the gold dragon Timurex as a reward to his most loyal viziers and servants. Vampires have taken many shapes and forms over the years, but they all share similar draconic features in honor to their God-Kings' gift.

Cultural Reception

Vampires have managed to hide in the shadows for thousands of years, their small numbers and shadowy nature allowing them to avoid the scrutiny of witch hunts. As mortals flock to large metropolises like Gameriaand Havre the vampire population has started to grow in these urban spaces, in some cases leading to territorial disputes and internal conflict between local vampires. So far groups like The Shroud have labeled vampires a low-priority threat, but there are some people becoming suspicious of the disappearances happening with ever-increasing frequency in the night.
