The Pagloan Inter Island Guard PEN - The Piigpen or The Sty

The Pagloan Inter Island Guard PEN (The Piigpen or The Sty as it is known by miscreants) is the national headquarters, equipment stockpile and training facility for PIIG agents. The Piigpen is a massive sprawling facility that has overgrown the original island where it was established. Built from locally mined basalt, the facility is naturally camouflaged as a large angular island, but on closer inspection looks like a particularly foreboding prison.
External training areas are grassy palm lined arenas created on the roofs of the upper levels. Barracks and the equipment cache fill the internals of the upper levels as a protection from flooding. The mid-levels contain eateries and recreation facilities. Grey-water processing forms external waterfalls that cascade from the mid-levels. Lower levels are dedicated to classrooms, situation rooms, hermetically sealed libraries, and the unmentioned detainment cells. Only a small portion of the Piigpen is seen by any visiting PIIGs. Boars, those on long term local assignment, may know their way around all the levels, but only those dark individuals on permanent assignment to the lower levels (known only in whispers as razorbacks) know all the secrets of the Piigpen.

Purpose / Function

The Piigpen serves number of purposes for PIIGs. It is the location of their initial onboarding training. It houses all of the unassigned equipment available to PIIGs worldwide. It is a home base for the wallow-less boars. It is also a black site detention facility maintained by razorbacks - but this is unknown outside of the building itself. There is also a pleasant retirement community on the uppermost level for any retired PIIG, but it generally goes unused as retired PIIGs are taken care of lovingly by their wallows.

Alterations

The physical building of the Piigpen occurred over decades as constant expansion occurred. As the majority of building materials were sourced locally, an external shell was created and quarrying occurred in isolated interior sections. As levels were completed or quarries exhausted, the quarries were re-purposed adding to the available usable real estate.

Architecture

The Piigpen is utilitarian, blocky and irregular both internally and externally. Maps are a constant wall decoration seen through the facility. Flat roofs are used as external rooms or patios. The external walls generally echo the angular fracture planes of the local basalt. At this writing there are 34 levels above sea level. It is unknown (except by the razorbacks) how many levels exist below sea level.
