#41 The Tournament of Champions Stage 2 cont.

General Summary

The Tournament of Champions continues, and Draktus easily dispatches his semi-finals opponent--a large dwarf who yields before Draktus can deal a lethal blow.
While waiting for the final round, Aelen, Korradin, and Tia meet a young woman named Talia Dendron. Talia spends most of her time in Drenick , and is interested to learn of the Adventurers travels abroad. They describe their adventurers in the Feywild in detail, but leave out any involvement in Leymair. Talia also reveals that her family sponsored Carn Irax in the Tournament of Succession where he came to power. She is not convinced that the war he has brought Tandar into is a good idea, but Aelen reassures her that Tandar should win.
After some additional small talk, the final round begins. In it Draktus faces off against a woman wielding a quarterstaff. After initially being thrown off guard, he defeats her, ending the fight with a fatal throwing knife. He is announced as the champion and given a substantial monetary reward, plus a fine set of armor and an invitation to the tournament's final stage. After some unfruitful discussion with the rest of the party, he decides to take additional gold instead of the armor provided.
The party spend the next few hours looking for a magic or potion shop. Not finding anything openly advertising what they seek, they discover a small Illicit Potion Shop tucked away in an alley. After some initial doubt on the part of the proprietor, they convince him to sell them several potions of fire resistance and a superior potion of healing. Having acquired their potions, the party leaves the city in the evening before the main gate is closed. They head east towards the mouth of the Threnelvar River.
They arrive at the mouth of the river in the early evening of the following day. They find tandarian guards posted, but are able to convince the guards to allow them into the cavern containing the source of the river. Exploring the cavern, they find a false wall leading into a small room with a puzzle. They solve the puzzle, which reaveals a hidden elevator leading down an unknown shaft.
