Haul

The Ravisher

Among the eldest and most powerful of Brògan's children, Haul displays many of the characteristics that led to her father's fall. Intensely proud, she refuses to acknowledge that the part her siblings played in her father's defeat could even hope to equal her own. She is also consumed by an insatiable lust for power, though she has thus far stopped short of following her father's example. During the early years of Brògan's reign, Haul was the first to openly oppose him. She and her followers stood alone and fought a series of great battles. When they were inevitably defeated by his might and the iron weapons in his warriors' hands, Brògan eradicated Haul's chosen people and had her brought before him in chains of cruel iron. As impressed with her power and courage as he was enraged at her insolence, he chose not to sacrifice her immediately. Instead, he forced her to witness the deaths of countless numbers of her siblings and followers. Between sacrifices, he devoted much of his energy to the invention of increasingly cruel tortures to visit upon her. It is said that the experience kindled the first megalomaniacal spark in Haul's heart just as it burned out her capacity for compassion and mercy.

When Haul's surviving siblings finally decided to act in concert to overthrow Brògan, Tëseach Cysgodal took it upon himself to infiltrate his father's citadel and free the one who had first kindled the fire of rebellion. Though recently freed from centuries of captivity and torment, Haul found that her strength had not diminished. Now fueled by intense hatred, her flames burned hotter than ever before -- a fact she was quick to demonstrate to her father's minions. They came to fear her above all her kindred in short order, for her rage was a thirst that no amount of suffering or death could quench. Shining like the sun, she wreaked flaming havoc across her father's domain while her siblings and their mortal allies followed in her wake. Her ferocity swept armies of mortals and lesser fey aside, rendering them and their cold-iron weapons into puddles of slag in moments, and only the most powerful of Brògan's servants could withstand her for even a moment. Still, even with the aid of her eight surviving siblings Brògan's defeat came only after a titanic struggle. When her father at last lay defeated, Haul took great pleasure in personally sundering his body into pieces before his consciousness was severed from it. She took his penis for herself -- in vengeance as well as to ensure he would sire no more children to suffer as she had -- and divided the rest between her siblings.

Haul's tempestuous nature isolates her from her siblings, who often found themselves in conflict with her and her servants in the years immediately following Brògan's defeat. Fearing her growing power and in order to bring about a lasting peace, they Worked powerful magics to contain her within the Vale of Saëthanial. There, she chafes at her second imprisonment and plots escape and bloody vengeance. Those unfortunate enough to wander into her domain often find the remainder of their lives immensely painful and -- if their luck holds -- incredibly short.

Haul cares little for the lives and struggles of mortals beyond their capacity to aid her escape or for the moments' entertainment they might provide. Though her power to intervene beyond the wards of Saëthanial is limited in scope, it is not nonexistent. Her Chosen enjoy power that her siblings rarely grant. She expects no binding oaths of loyalty, for she chooses only mortals whose own goals and ideals propel them naturally to act in a way that pleases her.
