Aràn

The Chronicler

The youngest of Brògan's surviving children, Aràn is also the most reserved. Since the days of Brògan's defeat, he has become fascinated with mortals, observing them in secret and chronicling his discoveries. He writes without pause, for the accumulation of new insights to glean and to preserve is ever accelerating. Tucked away in his mountain-top temple, he spends his days desperately working towards the completion of this Chronicle. Mortals associate Aràn with the moon because his chosen form radiates a pale moonlight. Something about it calls to him, on a level that even he does not fully understand.

Aràn's task requires much of his attention, so he relies upon a complex series of magical wards to turn back all but the most stubborn audience seekers. Though his focus on the Chronicle can make him seem aloof and uncaring, Aràn is anything but. He uses what little spare energy he has to magically aid mortals who cry out for his help, even to his own detriment. It is said that the tears he sheds for the pain and suffering of mortals have the power to heal.

Aràn spares little thought to his role as the guardian of Brògan's head. Having witnessed the memory of his struggle fade into legend and superstition, Aràn had convinced himself that the danger has all but passed. Sensing his father's return but powerless to intervene, Aràn has done all he can to subtly tip the odds in the favor of mortal-kind.
