The Blindfolds and Cult Units

The blindfolds are the mind control units manufactured by the Ego Death Cult.
Those who have been blindfolded both manufacture and seek out new targets to blindfold, spreading much like a disease.

What are the Blindfolds?

Constructed out of materials sourced from their region, they can visually vary to some degree but beneath the exterior appearance, they function the same. Some can be somewhat ornate depending on the materials sourced or the creator's lingering subconscious influences.
Upon being blindfolded, the senses are overwhelmed as it attempts to influence the mind. If it cannot be removed and it is able to overpower the target, they will have their personality effectively muted and act only in the interest of spreading the cult.

Some Exceptions

Under some circumstances, the blindfolds have been shown to not work:

• Psychopathy
• Physical/Cybernetic Augmentation
• THC use
• Alcohol Intoxication
• Plural systems

Types of Cultists

• Cultist
Those who have been blindfolded. They have little to no personality or expression to differentiate them from other members and act as the bulk of the cult.

• Fanatic
Cultists who have had their senses rattled and damaged to the point of madness, lashing out violently when unleashed. Relatively rare, but very dangerous.

• Null
A cultist who has been blindfolded for so long that they live perputually dissociated from reality. While unpredictable and prone to thrashing, they may still possibly be saved.

• Blank
At this point, there is nothing left behind the blindfold but a collection of barely functioning organs. Often wearing a breathing apparatus that connects a mask to a tank on their back, their bodies are slowly failing, and they have gone completely feral. Used primarily as shock troops, there is no saving them if the blindfold is removed and only contributes to the chaos.
