Mission Statement

Create a fighting game that:

  • Influenced by Marvel vs Capcom 2 tag team gameplay

  • Contains no complex inputs

  • Obeys internal rules unless as a character gimmick

  • Encourage player expression

Visuals are Vinyl Stickers with characters follow Furry logic, allowing for a wide variety of character types and movesets.

The Vinyl Sticker outline will be used to communicate information like hit and hurt boxes, character states, etc. without adding visual noise while also allowing the characters to pop against all the chaos and destruction in the stage background.

The golden rule is "Everything must feel hype"

  • Projectiles aren't just blocked, bullets make ricochet noises, hadokens are going to deflect and explode elsewhere

  • Hit sounds needs to be hard hitting

  • Explosions are big, inspired by the big vertical explosions of Metal Slug

  • No blood (unless it's a thing the character does)

  • Follow the tempo of the music for all timing

Originally planned on using the MUGEN engine, but am instead planning to sit down and learn Unreal Engine 6 as the workflow apparently is fantastic, and should make p2p multiplayer easier to implement. In addition, working with 3d models with heavy filtering is an easier task this way.
