Terrowin Aldavel (a.k.a. Black Duke)

Early years

Terrowin Aldavel was the third child of the 17th King of Solisea. He was a bit of a surprise to the royal family and there was a concern for the health of his mother. He was the first child of the royal family born in SeaHaven. As the youngest of the family, by 10 years he was treated differently than the other children. He wanted for nothing. When his father, Fredrick Aldavel  died when he was only 11 he expected to be crowned king but his Father declared Jarin Aldavel the King of Solisea and gave Terrowin the title of Duke of Black Bay. Jarin took Terrowin under his wing in honor of his mother and tried to teach him as much about leadership as he could. When his mother died two years later the reality of his position in the family came crashing down. Terrowin was quickly left to manage the Black Bay while his brother was managing the kingdom.

Training abroad

Terrowin began to feel beyond his abilities as a thirteen-year-old with a title. He took his royal status and ventured to the Murtisian Principality to train. Primarily to get out of his brother's shadow and prove his worth. Ten years later after training with the Murtisian military and navy he returned to Trephis.  After various military victories, while working with the Murtisians on the Zuriak border he acquired the nickname of the Black Duke from the soldiers in his charge. King Jarin Aldavel sent a courier requesting his return to Solisea as his presence at the border and military engagement was stressing Solisea diplomatic relations.  

The Duke Returns

Upon his return to Trephis he brought with him a handful of his loyal soldiers and scouts. Within a short period of time, he proved his new leadership skills. Trephis was in disarray as the Duke's stand-in was lazy and inept, allowing much of the city run itself. Within two weeks of his return, he stripped his reagent of his position and property for failing the kingdom. He replaced the position with his loyal subordinates. Within year had turned Trephis around and another year restored its ports to their former glory. The Duke's methods of turning Trephis around were militaristic, swift, and effective but not the most popular.  His methods earned him multiple assassination attempts within those first two years but his training, loyal followers, and paranoia served him well. Once he had restored Trephis to prominance he returned to SeaHaven to the Royal Court to assist his brother in military matters.

Enemies Within

The Duke steped in to help rebuild the wealth and strength of the Kingdom and fully realzing what his father's poor managment of the kingdom had done to Solisea. The Duke used his scouts to form the Custodians of Shadow. The Custodians used thier counter intelligence skills to reveal the secrets of and outmanuver the nobles and merchants feeding off the kingdom. Within a few short years The Black Duke and his Custodians of Shadow had rooted out anyone with in the court that was working against the King. The Black Duke assumed the postion of right  hand of the king and was responsible for handling any unsavory issues that came up. 

The 4th Epoch

The Duke supported King Jarin as they navigated the kingdom through the chaos of the end of the 3rd Epoch. The sky changed colors, fell to ground, and a new star appeared bright in the sky. As the seas calmed and the fears of Solisea began to subside King Jarin came down with a mysterious disease. The Duke's nephew, Luther Aldavel  inherited the throne but was too young to rule. Terrowin was made regent of Solisea. 2 years later Luther also became ill and SeaHaven was frozen in time to keep the king alive and hopefully maintain the royal line. 

The Black Hand

The Black Duke's reign as regent has been gradually growing darker and darker. His control on the population and the country has tightened and the indescriminate power of the Custodians of Shadow has grown dramatiaclly.
