Mother's Feast

"Mother's Feast is the most important day to Tern. Symbolizes people coming together in a time of crisis. That's great and all, but have you tried the Ekra on a stick? With a pint of Black Ale? That's why I go back."
Taryn Wanderfoot
Mother's Feast is a festival celebrating when the Clan Mother decided to open the clan to all peoples of Tern in a time of crisis.

History

Mother's Feast is a celebration of a decision of the Ebony Bear Clan Mother. Early in the 3rd age after the fall of the Zevalon Dynasty the Frost Wood was spreading throughout the area known as Tern. It was seemingly unstoppable and an area known as the Frozen Desolation was spreading throughout that part of the continent. Some of the villages and towns near the center of the Frost wood had already been lost. Clan Ebony Bear had discovered a way to save their villages and towns that were above the surface. They had learned a way to shift them, to bury them below the surface where the frost wood couldn't reach them. Mother's feast celebrates the day that the Clan Mother went against tradition and invited the other towns, villages, and people to join the clan. If they chose to join they would be brought into the fold and their homes would be rescued by the Sages of the clan. After the final village was rescued and the Frozen Desolation completely enveloped Tern the rescued peoples and clansmen of Ebony Bear gathered to celebrate. They celebrated the Clan Mother, The Sages, The rescued peoples, and the Clan. It became an annual celebration symbolizing the unification of the clan and remembering the sacrifices made to rescue the people of Tern.

Execution

The celebration lasts 3 days and is primarily celebrated in Ebony Square in Comney. On the last day of the festival, the leader of the Clan addresses the people of Tern. There is a small celebration in all the cities across Tern but many travel all the way to Ebony Square. The two most important parts of the Celebration are the Clan leader's speech and the feast for all peoples.
