Luxian Crystals

"Luxian Crystals? Well theres something that can make an average person into the Hero of their own story. Well at least until the magic runs out. Of course, I keep a few on hand."
Taryn Wanderfoot

A Bit of Luster

The Luxian Crystal Flows were always a dangerous place to navigate and made Lux and Dihza the unpredictable places they are. However, after Lux was "settled" by the Steelbreaker family and the Kingdom was established the Steelbreakers saw something unique in what was occasionally left behind when the Crystal Flows crashed into the northern shores of Lux. That crystal, that little bit of luster would capture magic. The Steelbreakers say it was ingenuity and skill that found it, where most admit it was two hot-headed dwarven brothers in a magic duel to the death on the beach.

Ingenuity and Profit

Regardless of how it was discovered the Steelbreakers were able to build upon the nature of the magic storing nature of crystal and use it to make inexpensive and flexible magic items. Each crystal could be charged by trained Luxian practitioners with types of magic and elements. A Luxian sword that can be wreathed in fire or ice or an amulet that can stop a magic missile or keep you from falling to your death. These are the minor magical items that gave the Kingdom of Lux the funding it needed to build a kingdom in an inhospitable land.

Limits

The crystals can only hold so much energy or they become too volatile according to the Luxian merchants and practitioners. The secret to how the crystals are processed is a closely guarded secret by the Kingdom and rumored to be dangerous. As well the sourcing the crystals from the Flows is dangerous due to hidden submerged crystals and Crystal Kobolds.

Rumor

It is rumored that processing the Crystals is more than just dangerous, it is toxic to the workers.
