Rupert the Brave
There has never been spoken a prophecy that was not infuriatingly vague. You can never tell what they mean until after the fact, and in truth there are probably a hundred people and events any one phrase could apply to. It's all a matter of perspective, and of being in the right place at the right time. Or the wrong place at the wrong time. That's how I wound up in the role of prophesied savior of the world, anyway.

Personal history
Rupert was born and raised in a small farming village so unimportant it does not show up on any maps or have a name anyone outside the region knows. The residents called it Eastfield. He led as charmed a life as anyone from a tiny, rural, impoverished home can have, which is to say he wasn't abused nor dying of starvation or sickness.
Like any young boy, he was enthralled by stories of the brave knights and heroes of legend, tales passed down generation to generation. But as he grew into a young man such tales became no more than fantasy. Even the most charmed farmer's life is a hard one, but it was a life to which he was well suited. And he he never entertained thoughts of leaving his ancestral homestead. Life was difficult, but it was simple, and Rupert liked that.
Then one day that simple life is interrupted by the appearance of an elven wizard. He says his name is Ashin Lai, and he stumbles into town half starved claiming to be on the run because he has secret knowledge the elves don't want leaked.
As it turns out, the world is about to end.
Rupert joins Ashin on his quest to find someone to do something about it, but that someone might be him. An ancient prophesy tells of a human hero destined to save the world. And now every wise man on the continent thinks that hero is Rupert.
They're right, because he and Ashin do manage to stop the end of the world, but that's beside the point.
Education
Formal education was not a requirement for the life Rupert was raised to. He learned to read and write only as much as was necessary to keep the farm's books or pen the occasional letter. Instead, his education was in farming, in tending the animals, and in surviving. While he trained with a sword and bow in order to hunt and protect the farm, most of his combat skills were picked up on the road.
Employment
Since being pulled away from his farmer's life and fulfilling his prophesied destiny, Rupert styles himself a professional Hero for Hire.

One time he stopped the apocalypse. It was very impressive.

Family Ties
Rupert has a small gaggle of siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews still in Eastfield and the surrounding region. Some of them like to brag about the relative who became a legend, but just as many scoff at the tales or pretend to be unrelated. When passing through the region he will always try to stop and visit.
Religious Views
Rupert believes only what he has seen with his own eyes. Which is a lot.
Social Aptitude
Rupert is very personable, but he lacks for etiquette. He is more comfortable around commoners than nobility or academics because he has a history of accidentally insulting people by using the wrong fork at dinner or some such. He often tries to cover these shortcomings with ego, bringing up past heroics, or by leaning hard on his farmboy charm.
Wealth & Financial state
While Rupert and Ashin have mostly burned through the gifts of gold and jewels they received in thanks of their heroic deeds, Rupert does still technically own a plot of land with a slightly rundown castle on it. However because he doesn't pay anyone to maintain it or actually live there himself it's value is declining over time.
He and Ashin live primarily off of the goodwill of the people and the fees they charge for hero and mercenary work.
