Personal history
Ashin was born to a middle-class family in Anhae that, like most middle-class elven families, attempts to live above their means. In a culture where appearances are everything, it's unsurprising that his parents sink most of their wealth into appearing richer than they are. For Ashin, this meant a childhood that was defined by it's falsehoods and parents that saw him as just another prop.
Which isn't to say he looks back on said childhood with any negativity. Because it was the desire to look rich and affluent that pushed his parents to enroll him in the prestigious Shin Academy of the Arcane. It was what allowed him to become a wizard.
And Ashin is a very good wizard. That's why he was recruited into a secret society plotting to take over the world. Except their plot was quite bad and would likely end up destroying the world instead. Ashin, being a smart and rational person, tried to warn the Academy's headmaster, who turned out to be in on the evil plan. So Ashin had to run for his life.
It was while on the run that he stumbled, quite literally, upon Rupert Ackerman and the rest, as they say, is history.
Education
Ashin is quite highly educated, even considering that his study at Shin Academy was never completed. It was within his parents' interests to have a well-mannered, well-spoken, and highly intelligent child, all of which Ashin fulfilled. He was schooled in etiquette, language, history, and magic from a young age, and later becoming versed in politics and business.
Employment
These days Ashin works with Rupert as self-styled heroes for hire. He's the brains of the operation.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Helped stop the apocalypse by telling everyone it was happening and making sure Rupert didn't die along the way.

Ashin picks up language quickly and has a very logical way of thinking.

Stop everyone, but mostly Rupert, from being really stupid. Keep Rupert alive. Be really good at magic.

Believes there are kernels of truth buried in mythology, but you shouldn't take the stories literally.

Ashin is very highly educated and comes from a culture that values refinement. Also a culture that sees itself as superior to all others. So although he is usually very well mannered, he can be haughty and arrogant to the point of insult, particularly when impatient with others.
