Rosewood Fruit

Rosewood Fruit is the product of Rosewood trees. Rosewood trees were given as a gift from the Lady of Death, Lady Lysandre Sonne to her son Emperor Casimir Rosenthal I as a way to exterminate the people of Laguarda and the Manakayan people after the Invasion of Laguarda and the revolts that came afterwards. Specifically genetically coded to be toxic only to the South-Sea Merfolk and ensure that the fruit would not be toxic to any other species of set of people that encountered it. The fruit was made to create a sense of plausible deniability from the Empire's view and to make the genocide of the Laguardan/South-Sea Manakayan people framed as something more akin to an epidemic or outbreak.

Anatomy

Rosewood fruit are rounded fruit that resemble the cartoon depiction of a heart, with two distinct rounded points curving down towards one rounded bottom. At the top of the fruit often sprouts several leaves and is where it is attached to the root plant, the Rosewood trees. Rosewood fruit are generally made of a purple iridescent skin that can shimmer pink or blue in the light.

Genetics and Reproduction

Rosewood fruit have been specifically engineered to grow in the spilt blood of South-Sea Merfolk. They are specifically genetically created and designed by the Goddess of Death, Lady Lysandre Sonne as a gift for him to use to wipe out the Manakayan (South-Sea Merfolk) that dared oppose him in the Invasion of Laguarda. With this 'gift' every battlefield and mass-grave of Manakayan bodies became a vector for disease and vermin that preyed upon the Mankayan people.
