Oolene, Lady of the Moons
The First Sister of Oros
(a.k.a. the Moonlit Lover, the Whispering Wind, Moonshadow)
Holy Books & Codes
- Fernivi's Compendium of Ecstasies: An unnecessarily explicit instruction manual for all manners of sexual gratification.
- The Aindos Esoterica: A collection of divinely inspired sayings, prayers, proverbs, and stories regarding the Lady of the Moons.
- The Scrolls of Shadow: A series of scrolls that meditate upon the natures of Night and Secrets.
Tenets of Faith
- Passion is pleasure, and pleasure is heavenly. By finding your passion, you can bring your pleasure to those you share it with, and make the world a better place. I will share my passion with the world.
- To force one's desires on another person is to ruin them and defile their soul. Egomaniacs, tyrants, and rapists all fall under this category, and all of them will see the error of their ways; if not through repentance when they meet me, then through Oolene’s judgement when they meet my blade.
- My body is a temple to the Lady of the Moons, I will ensure that it is healthy, groomed, and visible to others. I will strive to welcome and embrace all those who wish to worship at its altar.
- A secret is a sacrament and I will seek to protect those that I have been entrusted with as if they were my children. I will never use a secret against the one who has confessed it to me.
- Where possible, I will work to bring lovers together, regardless of the boundaries that separate them. The bonds of love extend across any distance, but I will not add to the burden by separating lovers.
- I will stand by my lovers, should I have any, on the battlefield and will not let them fall so long as I breathe.
- The night is my cloak, the shadows my garments. They cover the affairs of forbidden lovers and hide secrets which should not be revealed. I will put out the light that uncovers what the darkness masks.
- The night is the sacred abode of the Lady of the Moons; I will wrest it back from those creatures of the Primordials who have made it their own, using it to inflict terror and harm upon my people. It will be the monsters of Edras, not the people of the gods, who learn to fear the night.
Holidays
- The Tournament of Night: A holy night that lasts from sundown to sunup, in which participants are tasked with uncovering hidden items and secrets scattered throughout the town or village. Those who are successful receive special blessings from the local clergy of Oolene.
- Lunasfaire: A three day fair-like celebration commemorating the time of year when all three of the Edrasian moons are full.
- Carnivallash: A day celebrated by all manner of passionate debauchery, complete with revealing costumes and public orgiastic affairs.
Temples & Shrines
Outwardly, the temples of Oolene are more akin to guild halls or brothels, than they are to sanctuaries of religious worship. Their true nature is usually hidden by wards and illusions, transformed in the light of the Edrasian moons to be obvious to the faithful. They frequently host sacred prostitutes and act as centers of gossip and information, assuring their continued growth in popularity. In some lands, however, buildings dedicated to the Lady of the Moons more often resemble thieves guilds or monster hunting guilds.Providence
One that pleases the goddess of lust may find themselves succeeding, quite unexpectedly, in pursuits of the heart. Blessings of the Lady of the Moons can also appear in the form of useful secrets whispered on the wind or miraculous rescue from what would have been a terrible fall. Many are the airship crew who have made truly dire promises to Oolene as they plummeted through the clouds. Oolene's favor is frequently accompanied by gentle breezes. On the other hand, the ire of Oolene can manifest itself in uncontrollable sexual urges, unrequited love, terribly whirlwinds and tornadoes that spring up out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly, or even the spreading of insidious rumors revealing the sinner’s darkest secrets.Rituals
- A seeker looking to gain divine inspiration in either the arts or the pursuit of love may participate in an open-air orgy during the Witching Hour
- A seeker trying to discern of one of their secrets has been discovered must sacrifice a nightingale at the feet of an idol during the dark of the moon
- A seeker wishing to have safe travel through the air (via spell, airship, or creature) may consecrate a set of perfect raven feathers at the edge of a cliff and then keep the feathers on their person during the journey
- A seeker wishing deliverance from the curse of lycanthropy must bath in the blood of five powerful Shapeshifters on the Autumnal Equinox whilst being careful to never touch any light, save for that of a moon, in the week leading up to the ritual
