Celestial Bodies & Ascendant Realms

Celestial Bodies

Originally, there were only five celestial bodies in Edras' sphere. They were:
  • Cere, the yellow sun at the center of the sphere...
  • Svurthan, the first moon, now known as the Demon's Eye...
  • Vaghan, the second and largest of the moons...
  • Sasona, the last and smallest of the moons...
  • and Edras, the planet around which the three moons orbited.

Ascendant Realms

When the deities won the War of Souls, they weren't able to kill the Primordials in their weakened state (especially after seeing what happened when they killed Dranlegoritha). Instead, the Primordials, as an involuntary response to losing the war, jettisoned themselves, their concepts, and all their power into the astral space surrounding Edras - forming Ascendant Realms from the core of their ontological superiority. This had the unforeseen effect of solidifying entirely new planetary bodies in the physical realm, as well. It's believed that these planets are like shells of physical reality - both representing and imprisoning the primordials at the same time. A cage made from their own cosmological essences.   These Ascendant Realms maintain tendrils back to Edras through the astral plane - like metaphysical roots connecting them to the place that spawned them. As the orbits of these physical representations of the realms move from perigee to apogee, the astral roots strength and weaken, causing their ability to interact with Edras to wax and wane. At their apogee, thinnings and passages into that realm are rare and the spawn of that primordial find themselves weakened, while at the perigee the opposite is true.   Mourn, the Fell of Shadows, and Clith Sceach, the Faewyld, have the shortest orbits of all the Ascendant Realms, virtually always being close enough to Edras to be considered to be in an extreme perigee. This is why these two realms exist as virtual mirrors of Edras itself, why it is so much easier to travel to and from them, and why their thinnings are so much more common than the other Ascendant Realms.
