Education on Eskelia is fundamentally different than it would be on other worlds, for starters, humanity doesn't possess the advanced technology it once had and has been largely reverted to a dark age society.
Most commoners, or peasants, have a basic understanding of reading and writing; although depending on where they may live, they might not even have this. On the other hand, the nobility or those who are of a much higher station and thus have the funding to afford an education, would not only be able to read and write very well but would also have more paths to success.
How education is actually handled depends on the nation itself, for example: the Country of Okoda only allows their nobility to attend school. While the Auskerian Empire allows peasants to attend school under certain conditions.
Children are taught the basics from their parents, this includes how to speak but may also be taught how to the job that their family is doing.
