The Elvana (L-Vaugn-na)

The first and most prominent elven religion is the belief of the Elvana, a series of stories detailing the origins of their first 2 Gods (Ishmaltal, the God of life, and Ishtamal, the God of death) and their quest to reach perfection in a imperfect world. From the Elvana, it mostly promotes the strive for perfection, the will to overcome imperfection and sin, and unity of all elves under the promise of internal happiness and prosperity. Though its influence from the elven homeland is now gone, elves across the world still hold themselves to its teachings and way of life.

Divine Origins

The tree was always revered by the elven people, seeing it as a God, and worshipped it. Sometime during the elve's expansion around the tree, discussion raged on the tree's origin amongst the elders, and one day, a young lady named Warah Naspin went to the main village and claimed that she saw them. When brought before the elders, she talked about her time at the tree, feeling its energy and bark, and she took a nap. During it, she proclaimed that when she dreamed, she was approached by two elven women: one whose skin was pale but had glowing markings around her body, dressed in shiny clothing and fabric she never seen before, and the other as dark as the night, with purple-black clothing but the stars underneath. The mysterious women spoke to her about the truth of her origins, showing her visions of the past before her time of when they came to be, their love, and their search for perfection. The one that shined claimed to be the mother of all elven life, their compassion, their love, and their salvation. The one cloaked in darkness claimed to be mother of death, the embodiment of adversity, struggle, but also passion, peace, and logic.   Naspin proclaimed that there must be a God of life, a God of death, and the tree is just a creation of theirs to bless the realm of imperfect beings. She also appealed to the stories from the past of this sense of already knowing what to do when the first elves spawned from the tree, claiming that it was proof of her dreams being right. The elders were moved by her stories, and allowed the public to hear what they saw as the truth, and the stories of the Gods, their origins, and their teachings were written down in a book called "the Elvana"

Cosmological Views

The world was already created and in motion when the elven Gods spawned. They saw the flaws, pain, suffering, and selfishness of the other realms, with very few striving for true perfection. Ishmaltal and Ishtamal confined with each other as they were the only ones of their kind, found love in the midst of nothing, and set out to create a race of perfect beings, forged from the flawed world of Eden, hoping that their creations could rise above the flawed beings and maybe even the Gods of the other realms themselves.

Tenets of Faith

Those who follow the Elvana must adhere to "the 5 teachings" laid out by the Gods of life and death
  1. Perfection is freedom from all temptation, violence, greed, and jealousy. It is what all must strive for
  2. The Elven woman is made in the image of me [the God of life] and must be bound by none, and harmed by none. She will lead the faith and embody our compassion and determination. The Elven man serves as the protector of the weak, the vanguard of the holy. He will guard the body and minds of all, and embody our bravery and passion. The power of both must be shared and fulfilled equally, as the lacking or overabundance of one will lead to the demise of them both
  3. One must seek unity, peace, and agreement with their Elven folk, for disunion will destroy the whole
  4. The beings of the world are flawed, one must not fall to the burdens that plague the other being and must protect the land from such burdens
  5.  Trials of one's faith and tests of their endurance frequently come from the lands, the beings that inhabit it, and yourselves, and one must face them and overcome it

Priesthood

An elven woman is appointed to be the head of faith (or Isha Namal, the voice of the Gods) since they are seen as the closest thing to one of the sacred (the God of life). She is usually appointed through the current head of faith at the time for their exceptional faith, religious duty, and connection with the community. The head of faith has two dresses: a white and gold silk dress for the day to honor Ishmaltal, and a dark purple silk gown at night to honor Ishtamal.

From life, adversity. In death, prosperity.
